Cloud DevOps Engineer

Work you'll do

As a Cloud Engineer you will have multiple responsibilities depending on project type One type of project may involve programming applications to be optimized for the cloud, testing and deploying for production. Another type of project might involve automation, where you take a manual provisioning processes and code them based on a triggered event. From an operational viewpoint, your role may require setting up alarms, event trigger or dashboard to monitor AWS resource workloads. The key responsibilities may involve some or all of the areas listed below:

Programming applications to be optimized to work within constructs of an AWS environment

Developing templates or scripts to automate everyday developer or operations functions

Monitor and maintain multiple (DevOps) environments based on client requirements

Setting up or managing backups and patching across the environments

Identifying new tools and processes to improve the cloud platform and automate processes

Qualifications

Requirements

  • 3yrs+ of systems engineer experience with at least 1-2 years of AWS experience.

  • Proficient experience with a scripting tool such as python or related

  • Hands on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other Cloud providers (nice to have). AWS Certifications are preferred.

  • Install, configure, automate, and monitor various Cloud Services (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).

  • Experience with IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing and firewalling concepts (Focus on AWS Networking, Palo Alto and Cisco DMVPN)

  • Experience with Security- IAM, Active Directory, Centrify, MFA, McAfee AV, Tenable/Nessus, Trend Micro, Splunk, STIG Hardening

  • System Administration Experience with RedHat Linux and Windows Server 2012R2/2016.

  • Hands on experience with DevOps/Automation tools including AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, Jenkins, Git

  • Setup High Availability and DR environments in AWS

  • Willing to take on Production Support

Must be living in or willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Mechanicsburg, PA

  • US Citizenship required

Consulting Requirements

  • Experience with previous Cloud Migrations is a plus.

  • 4+ years of relevant consulting, industry or technology experience

  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Strong communicator

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time

Preferred

AWS certification Associate/Professional SysOps Administrator

Active Directory administration

Experience with VMware products like vRealize

Experience with cloud automation and container tools like bash scripting, Ansible, Docker, Chef or Puppet

Working knowledge of ITIL and/or agile methodologies

Collaborate with Leidos stakeholders to collect and analyze business requirements against current and planned cloud service offerings; develop stories, tasks, and personnel assignments for deployments in public cloud services to include AWS, Azure, and potentially other Cloud Service Providers. Work with Leidos cloud architects to develop standards for interoperability, DevOps pipelines, and automation of cloud services in go-forward architectures for Enterprise Computing (Data Center), End User Computing, IT Service Management and Networking, and supporting application development and/or migration. Primary Responsibilities Include: * Lead cloud, network, infrastructure, systems and security development efforts, managing all aspects of the system/ application development life cycle, from initial concept development through deployment and sustainment. * Provide technical oversight and lead coordination efforts across the organization to ensure solutions satisfy customer and business needs with minimal impact to other functional areas. * Coordinate closely with client leadership and engineering team members to establish a clear understanding of technical approach, drive design choices, and develop effective technology deployment strategies that allow for future growth and improvements. * Communicate effectively, both verbally and via production of documentation) with stakeholders across the organization to gain the necessary support for the successful integration of new technologies and enhancements to existing systems. * Establish and enforce standard procedures for infrastructure as software and API design change and management that include an impact analysis, coordination of activities across all functional areas of the organization, and documentation. * Deployment of cloud environments with a focus on AWS and Azure, demonstrate technical cloud engineering knowledge, playing a vital role in the implementation of DevOps release and deployment cycles, security best practices, and change management. * Support Architecture with the delivery of customer Cloud Strategies and solutions, aligned with customer's business objectives and with a focus on Cloud Migrations. * Support ECM services and Line of Business application migration methodologies and techniques including mass application movements within in large regulated enterprise environments. Qualifications: * Proven success developing and delivering mobile platform services for enterprise organizations * Experience in developing release and deployment plans of cloud, compute and storage services, security services, IaaS/PaaS services, and patching services. * Strong understanding across cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data API management) to deliver end to end Cloud Infrastructure architectures and designs. * 6+ years' experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, with current focus on public cloud environments. * 3+ years of experience as a Lead Cloud Engineer with hands-on experience in multiple, diverse cloud, network, infrastructure, systems, security, and automation technologies. * Previous experience in product development, design, architecture and engineering for private cloud, Fedramp cloud services, and infrastructure as a service * Strong documentation and collaboration skills, dealing with complex cloud solutions supporting multiple stakeholders and business operations. * Expertise in managing cloud, network, infrastructure architecture projects and operations across multiple IT disciplines. * Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of IT experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. * 4+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects * 3+ years of hands-on experience working with public cloud environments and services * Previous AWS or Azure migration skills and experience. * Relevant Industry certifications such on Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) * US Citizen, and eligible to obtain a federal security clearance.
