Lilly Hosting and Cloud Services (HCS) runs the IT Infrastructure Hosting and Cloud technologies across the enterprise. This spans from our Global Enterprise Data Centers, through our Storage/Backups, Server Virtualization and Server Operating Systems both on premise, in our Lilly Private Cloud and Public IaaS/PaaS offerings. Our Lilly Cloud Engineers are responsible for designing and delivering enterprise scale private and public container services and solutions to the Enterprise in alignment with the vision, strategy and principles provided by the Cloud Advisor and Cloud Architecture & Strategy Team. As a member of the cloud container team, you will partner with other Cloud Engineers to implement technical designs and ensure the designs meet Lilly Security and Quality standards. In this capacity it is critical that the you have deep technical and communication skills and the enjoy educating and guiding others on the team, within IT about our cloud solutions
Cloud Engineer Containers works with the Manager of HCS Cloud Enablement.
Your role (along with additional Cloud Engineers) will be to partner with Architects and Engineers across all Business IT in the following areas:
Design and implement of a secure a Cloud Container Foundation, repeatable container patterns, templates, and/or accelerators to enable faster business IT adoption of container services.
Development of process and code required to run CI&CD workflows connected to Enterprise Universal Repository Management and Enterprise Source Code Management
Consult, Advise and Facilitate the implementation of Lilly's cloud container practices
Promote and educate the Lilly community on Cloud Container Adoption, Operating Guidelines/Principles, and Cloud Container Services/Solutions
Partner with the HCS Cloud Enablement team to develop a continuously updated technology and service roadmap that represents both the near and long-term objectives of the organization
Collaborate with suppliers in development of annual container technology plans and ensure that the supplier's technology platforms will support Lilly's current and future business requirements
Actively stay abreast of emerging container technology directions, work with lead team to guide the organization on how to interpret and best use emerging technologies.
Develop automated, manageable, secure, compliant, highly available, highly reliable and fault-tolerant container solutions and transition developed services to operations
Provide guidance to application teams regarding the proper use and fit of our container services
Responsible for the integration security testing, patches and other key updates into production containers and hosts. Security testing will include infrastructure configuration (AWS settings, cloud formation templates, base container and AMIs), continuous platform testing including security
Quickly understand and become guide in the necessary technology and processes that will become critical in implementing Cloud Technologies and Platforms.
Work effectively across a global organization to ensure multiple delivery streams come together to provide a global capability.
43745BR Basic Qualifications
2+ years of experience in developing, implementing, or supporting infrastructure or cloud solutions
2+ Years of expertise in design, development and implementation of cloud container solutions
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position
Working Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
Working corporate experience with AWS IaaS and PaaS services
Deep understanding of Linux internals, including performance tuning experience, troubleshooting, bug fix updates, and core builds
Thorough knowledge of system management, clustering and storage management, virtualization, and directory server
Experience in global enterprise cloud infrastructure solutions, partnering to build services and transitioning completed services to service operations
Professional experience with ITIL and or IT service development and operations
Experience with driving execution through a team with real impact and solid outcomes.
Demonstrated skill and real passion for operational excellence and solution delivery.
Strong learning agility when it comes to technology and Effective analytical, problem solving and investigative skills
Experience in systems development including Agile and Iterative development methodologies
Ability to act as change agent and to take ownership of issues or opportunities until a proper solution is implemented
Advanced Experience with public and private cloud container services including RedHat OpenShift
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or ability to pursue certification within 12-18 months of hire
Proficiency with at least one high level language

Good communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to a non-technical audience (including senior leadership).

Experience working with Quality, Compliance and documentation standards; working in audit situations and knowledge of CAS and their processes.
