Jacobs has an opening for a Cloud Architect to support a customer in the Washington, DC area. Duties include:

  • Provide wide range direct support of the project team and DHS client to analyze project needs, business, technical, functional, performance and infrastructure requirements for application and data migration efforts.

  • Design system architectures to include the software, hardware, and networking components to support the total requirements and provides for present and future cross functional requirements and interfaces.

  • Prepare and present operational requirements document (ORD), designs, architectures, concept of operations (CONOPS), and transition plans for individual applications and data sets approved by client to migrate to Cloud services.

  • Develop and produce AWS Architecture drawings using tools such as Visio, PowerPoint or other tools, using AWS standard architecture principles.

  • Identify, evaluate and implement Cloud data analytics and data science off the shelf solutions that meet DHS client requirements.

  • Develop cost profiles based on well architected designs, using AWS cost tools.

  • Perform evaluation of system alternatives and assessment of risks and costs.

  • Provide in-depth domain expertise and promote AWS Cloud best practices to project technical staff and/or DHS client management.

  • Ensure that all data and Program processes are properly documented.

  • Work in a small agile team of Cloud engineers, architects, and security and project managers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Qualifications (minimum requirements, per the contract):

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility

  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and five (5) years to eight (8) years of progressive, relevant experience, or

  • any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications.

  • Demonstrated data analytic and data management skills

  • An understanding of Cloud Enterprise Data Management and Data Classification requirements, to include: Data Indexing, Data Governance, Data Minimization, Data Tagging, Data Retention, Unique Data Identification, Data Versioning

  • Experience performing Data Analytics with COTS and GOTS tools leveraging Enterprise Data Architecture

  • Deep understanding of Cloud Data Storage options and optimization

  • Ability to generate detailed Cloud Architecture documentation and data flows

  • Demonstrated experience working in various cloud environments (AWS, Azure, ICGC)

Preferred Qualifications (desired but not required):

  • AWS Solutions Architect certification

  • Project Management Professional

  • Security

  • Expertise in current Intelligence Community (IC) or DHS Cloud environments

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

Essential Functions:

Physical Requirements:
Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment:General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance:Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Other Essential Functions:Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing. Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.

The Nutanix Services function includes consulting, planning, design, implementation, integration and automation services as well as project management. The Cloud Consulting Architect will work under the Services team to create service offerings to enable our customers to deploy automation and orchestration solutions provision to multiple cloud end points (e.g. Nutanix, AWS, Azure, GCP, etc). He or she will work with software developers, consultants, and engineers to create scalable and reliable solutions for clients and partners. Responsibilities: * Billable Project work 70% of time * Work with Nutanix customers to understand business goals and translate them into cloud automation and orchestration solutions * Evangelize Nutanix's vision for a multi-cloud world and offer hands on experience delivering these outcomes for our customers * Run customer facing workshops to develop the Cloud requirements and design and document these for customer review and approval Design service catalogs for Self-Service Provisioning (SSP) leveraging the Nutanix Calm Automation and Orchestration platform to provisioning and manage mode 2 applications delivered to both private cloud and public cloud end-points (note: Nutanix Calm experience not required and can be learned on the job) * Design services that leverage cloud native architectures, microservices like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as IaaS and PaaS architectures * Develop detailed blueprint specifications that developers will use to write code and develop the automation components. Integration with 3rd party software products like (Infoblox, Active Directory, Service Now, etc) via RESTAPI is integral to this work. * Work collaboratively in a scrum agile team leveraging a variety of DevOps tools (e.g. Jira, GitHub, Jenkins, etc) as part of the CD/CI pipeline * Work with software development teams at a hands-on level to design and write code * Develop and test end-to-end blueprint incorporating all developer code to deliver the desired outcome * Participate in a limited pre-sales involvement to provide services overlay to the existing sales motion primarily as a SME * Create toolkits and best practice documents and whitepapers Required Qualifications: * Up to 70% of travel * A minimum of 5 years of industry experience * Excellent architecture expertise with in-depth understanding of cloud architecture patterns * Ability to whiteboard solutions interactively with customers and develop robust architectural documentation * High comfort level using one or more automation tools or orchestration application stacks and frameworks (e.g. Terraforms, Lambda, Azure Pack, Azure Stack, OpenStack, Cloud Stack, VMware vCO, or Microsoft Systems Center Orchestrator) * Experience with developing and managing cloud-computing environments like Amazon EC2, Azure and/or GCP * Experience developing scalable cloud microservices using container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Mesosphere * Ability to develop and debug software scripting and code in at least one of the following languages (Powershell, Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, Java, Javascript, etc.) * Understanding of architecture and use cases for configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and SALT Stack * Leverage DevOps tools like GitHub, Jira, Jenkins, Artifactory, Zephyr, etc. to deliver automation and promote a DevOps culture * Experience with building and running large scale, distributed, highly-available, fault-tolerant, multi-tier applications running on both Windows and Linux * Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high level of detail Preferred Qualifications: * Understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) * Experience in network virtualization technologies (e.g. NSX or ACI) * A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems Nutanix Washington DC
