Summary:

The New Beginnings Therapist is responsible for the delivery of clinical services to unaccompanied. minors within the agency's shelter program. The agency serves both male and female youth from all over the world between the ages 6 to 17. This is a wonderful opportunity to work with an established program (we have been running the program since 2012). There is no DMH paperwork, no productivity, and very minimal travel required as typically all services are done at the facility.

Services shall be consistent with Agency and Office of Refugee Resettlement policy and procedures and the standards of practices for registered and licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Clinical Social Workers, Professional Clinical Counselors, or Psychologists within the State of California.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group therapy.

  • Provide family therapy.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation.

  • Communicate daily with the other team members.

  • Read daily counselor logs and incident reports.

  • Participate in and, as directed, provide training for treatment team members.

  • Maintain regular contact with all staff and community persons involved in the clients treatment plans.

  • Share on-call responsibilities with other designated staff.

  • Attend weekly staffing meetings and any other designated staff meetings.

  • Attend regular supervision sessions with supervisor.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts/Science (M.A./M.S.) Degree in Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work or Counseling OR Doctorate (Ph.D./Psy.D.) Degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology.

  • Active, current and clear registration/license with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and/or California Board of Psychology

  • Trained in Intensive Field-Based Services (Intensive Care Coordination & Intensive Home-Based Services, Core Practice Model, Wraparound Roles, etc.) preferred

  • Experience working high-risk children, adolescents, adults and/or families within a Mental Health, Educational, Child Welfare and/or Juvenile Probation systems preferred

  • Availability to be on-call for crisis related services required

  • Bi-lingual/Bi-literate in Spanish highly preferred

  • Valid California Drivers License and proof of auto insurance required

  • Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional reference checks, physical examination with TB test, and drug screening
