Within the UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology, this position will provide support for Pediatric Rheumatology, Allergy, and Immunology Clinical Research by conducting study visits, collecting, and analyzing results and performing operational duties associated with human research. This is a specified term position.
Duties to include:
Identify, recruit and consent patients for participation in clinical research studies.
Perform data extraction from the electronic medical record (i.e. Epic).
Complete data entry and verification into required databases, including RAVE and REDCap.
Responsible for tracking study subject visits.
Administer study questionnaires and instruments.
Ensure compliance with IRB requirements and assist in audits as necessary.
Summarize recruitment data and results.
May assist with publications and manuscripts, as directed.
May provide functional and/or administrative supervision. Mentor new staff under direction.
Attend scheduled meetings with study sponsors.
Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy, and Immunology:
University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital is home to Iowa's only pediatric rheumatologists-doctors with the training, expertise, and experience to treat children and young adults with rheumatic diseases.
Rheumatic diseases refer to a wide range of disorders that, in general, affect the joints, muscles, spine, and skin. These diseases may present with pain, swelling, morning stiffness, fever, or rash. Pediatric rheumatic diseases result from uncontrolled inflammation during which the body's immune system attacks or hurts its own healthy cells and tissues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in science, engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum one year of experience in clinical trial protocol management, including but not limited to preparation of regulatory submissions, recruitment of eligible patients, and reporting of study data.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
Knowledge of Institutional Review Board procedures, FDA regulations and study sponsor guidelines related to clinical trial research.
Desirable Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with data extraction from an electronic medical record.
Demonstrated experience with performing data entry into registry or database.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in immunologic/rheumatic disorders research.
Demonstrated experience with Zoom, Skype, or similar program.
