This highly analytical & technically proficient position supports the Clinical Trials organization to analyze large, complex clinical research data and conduct timely clinical trial financial reconciliation for all active clinical trials using various tools, systems & applications. The reconciliation requires the use of multiple systems/applications, necessitating the integration & analysis of a large volume of complex data from varied sources in support of the entire clinical trial portfolio. Strong logic, efficiency, a keen attention to detail and data verification skills are essential.

The Clinical Trials Financial Reconciliation Analyst is also responsible to provide a strong management process, including generating metrics/reports to demonstrate status & progress, both on an individual study basis and for the entire study portfolio. Position seeks to continuously improve/enhance processes & reporting. Given the size of the clinical trial portfolio, and financial impact to the organization, the ideal candidate must be able to effectively prioritize & execute tasks, seeking clarity when conflicts arise. Strong understanding of the linkage between system level details and the general ledger journal entries and associated account balances is necessary.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Delivers ongoing timely & accurate Clinical Trials organization study-specific financial reconciliation in accordance with identified priorities.

  • Manages the end of study financial reconciliation process as an extension of the quarterly reporting; driving the end of study reconciliation to completion within a specified time frame.

  • Generates & presents metrics allowing for management oversight and prioritization.

  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of complex MS Excel-based financial reconciliation tools that integrate with both DCR's CTMS and client-controlled EDC systems.

  • Via a phased approach, performs monthly study visit confirmation process (CTMS to EDC) that drives the accounting month end; seeks ways to optimize this process.

  • Works with DCR Finance team to meet an accelerated month-end close process.

  • Builds tools necessary to evaluate & monitor novel payment scenarios.

  • Supports and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, including standardized & systematized projects to scale best practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree - BS/BA in math / statistics, business or related field

  • 2 or more years of professional/academic experience in an analytical/reporting type role

  • Demonstrated understanding of GAAP, particularly accrual accounting procedures (revenue recognition, invoicing, payments, etc.) is required

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, ability to manipulate large quantities of data and produce graphs, charts, and tables is required

  • Experience working with Tableau, research databases (e.g. RAVE, Medidata), Clinical Trial Management Systems (particularly Clinical Conductor) is strongly preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and with an ability to interpret and communicate analytical information to individuals and groups with varying levels of analytics expertise in a clear and concise manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to present complex results and conclusions to non-technical audiences and to senior decision-makers.

  • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-past ever changing environment.

  • Ability to manage confidential information and/or issues using strong discretion and judgment.

  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required.

  • Ability to travel up 10% depending on business needs.

FINANCIAL ANALYST SENIOR - ENCOUNTERS Position Description This position is responsible to oversee internal and delegate encounters processes on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis per a defined and regimented schedule. Reconcile between systems and data sources to ensure accuracy and completion of encounter submissions. Subject matter expert on encounters including datasets for submission, reporting and remediation. Lead the strengthening of cross-departmental encounter partnerships as a member of all encounter project work teams. Create, perform and test encounters datasets and processes. Proactively identify and adapt to new regulatory changes that impact encounters process. Lead external delegate encounter reconciliation across datasets and internal claims/encounter data. * Lead encounters reporting efforts for UCare's delegates. Develop, improve, and monitor reports and analysis related to encounter submission performance and other assigned projects. * Monitor completeness of the encounter submissions, delegate claims, through a reconciliation process. Work with Information Technology (IT) to ensure submission process is compliant and deadlines met. Identify variances through reporting and resolve through the Encounter Scrum team. * Create DHS QAP centered reporting for the Delegates and UCare. Leveraging the State's provider portal data and encounter response files. * Lead annual and ad hoc delegated related audits. Support Encounter manager with external audit requests. Maintain audit ready documentation for UCare Encounter processes/submissions/reconciliation. * Serve a long side the Encounter manager as HCE's liaison with the IT department. Partner with the Encounter Scrum Business Analyst to define project direction and participate in project meetings with technical, business and project management staff. Act as SME on the Encounter Scrum Team. * Facilitate creative discussions to develop solutions to project requirements. Communicate project updates as necessary to the Encounter manager and technology teams. * Maintain good working relationship with Delegates, Information Technology and Operational departments. * Support financial, operational and strategic initiatives through CMS and DHS data sweeps, ad hoc and standard reports. Maintain documentation on standard report processes and procedures. * Support UCare's pharmacy department as backup for PDE, P2P, data loads and reconciliation including loading pharmacy data into UCare's data repositories, verifying completeness of the data against invoiced amounts. Respond to Acumen notifications and attest to response files generated by ESI and UCare. * Annual review of contract changes along with maintaining a strong understanding of encounter submission requirements (DHS, CMS, MDH & Exchange) per associated contract. Work with UCare internal staff and Delegates to ensure any proposed changes to encounter submissions are remediated. Help implement changes and improvements developed by the SCRUM team. * Maintain a thorough understanding of data structure within UCare's claims adjudication system, and product lines and those of our delegates. * Other projects and duties as assigned. Education B.A./B.S. in Finance, Economics or Data Science related field preferred; demonstrated analytical and project management experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Required Experience Three or more years of reporting, analysis, data or statistics-based experience. Excel skills SQL skills. Strong attention to detail. Data mining, consolidation and new report generation. Professional desk documentation creation. Preferred Experience Reporting, analysis, data or statistics-based experience in a mid to large size organization. Exposure to Access skills. Health insurance industry experience.
