Clinical Technician -- Emergency Department

South Pointe Hospital's Emergency Department has 22 beds and provides 24/7 emergency services, ranging from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care, to more than 35,000 patients of all ages each year. Known for their collaborative, team-based approach, this department strives to be the best place to receive care and is focused on providing an environment for caregivers to learn and become experts in their field.

A caregiver in this position works variable shifts, 3:00pm-11:30pm or 11:00pm-7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.

• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• A high school diploma or GED.

• Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1).

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
