Purpose of Your Job Position

The Clinical Systems Nurse supports the successful operations of clinical practices at assigned facilities by engaging, developing, empowering, and inspiring site management and staff.

Delegation of Authority

As Clinical Systems Nurse, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Systems Nurse Functions

  • Meet with facility nursing staff, review facility information, and provide input to resident assessments, care plans, and service records.

  • Determine required nursing intervention/activities when appropriate.

  • Perform onsite education and training on clinical systems, disease management and health promotion with facility personnel.

  • Provide Feedback to the Chief Nursing Officer

  • Discuss medical/nursing issues and responsibilities with facility Executive Directors and Directors of Clinical Services on a regular basis

  • Develop training materials for staff.

  • Use laptop computers and enter service records in the field.

  • Work effectively and relate well with others Including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the facility.

  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and works, to maintain constructive working relationships

  • Report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work

  • Ability to multitask in fast paced environment

Complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious, about assignments.

  • Working knowledge of personal computer and application software such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong organizational, written, verbal and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions

  • Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and its premises.

  • Moves intermittently during working hours.

  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.

  • Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.

  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.

  • Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.

  • Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).

  • Is required to provide nursing coverage at facilities as the situation dictates.

  • May be involved in community/civic health matters/projects.

  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.

  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.

  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including COVID-19, TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

  • Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department personnel.

  • Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support personnel, etc., to assure that the residents' needs are continually met.

Education

  • Current, valid LPN licensure in Oklahoma

Experience

  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Performance Experience with Point Click Care, (PCC) preferred

  • Experience with policy manual writing, as well as experience in participating in the procedures by which to introduce such changes to the manual.

  • Clinical systems experience such as Weights and Vitals, Infection Control and Prevention, Wounds, Clinical Documentation, Clinical Assessments, Immunizations, PDPM, Pay for Performance, Quality Measure and QAPI. This is not an exhaustive list.
