Job Description:

The purpose of the Clinical Research internship is to increase awareness and understanding of the functions of the clinical research group in the orthopedic device industry. Clinical research involves investigatory studies via collaborative relationships between companies and researchers like large universities and medical institutions to explore whether a medical device is safe and effective for humans. These studies also may show which medical approaches work best for certain devices and treatments for groups of people and the possible side effects related to the treatment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities can include:

  • Provides support to the clinical department to assist with execution and maintenance of clinical studies

  • Assist in the execution of clinical test plans to support Investigatory Device Exemption (IDE) approvals

  • Maintains, updates, and may establish various spreadsheets/databases for clinical tracking

  • Maintains clinical operations files

  • Responsible for ordering and shipping supplies in coordination with all phases of the clinical studies, maintains files and inventories of supplies and equipment

  • Prepares, processes, logs and distributes completed case report forms and other study materials

  • Tracks incoming and outgoing clinical and regulatory documents and updates for investigator sites. Prepares materials and attends investigator meetings

  • Assists with preparing FDA and other reports. Supports departmental ordering, bill paying, and other clerical duties

  • Ensure data completeness, maintaining research files, providing information to participants regarding research protocols and procedures

  • Conduct basic statistical analyses

  • Organize and present clinical research plans, status reports, and/or results to leadership

  • Other assigned responsibilities or special projects, as needed

  • Shadow various clinical research associates

Requirements:

The intern will be currently enrolled as a full-time college student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and preferably in a life sciences degree program. The intern will have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint.

This role provides technical training in the Hospital environment. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree or equivalent; MBA preferred. * Minimum 3 years physician sales experience in diagnostic laboratory business (preferably in a genetics laboratory) * Preferred 3 years successful sales management/consulting experience preferably in diagnostic laboratory business. * Proven track record of success in developing new markets, launching new products and increasing revenue quickly. * Award winning management/consulting track record. * Market knowledge and experience in reproductive health preferred. * The ability to effectively maneuver through complex situations, internal and external.
