Clinical Supervisor, Acute Cardiology

In the Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU), you will work with patients with Cardiac and Vascular disease, some requiring an intermediate level of care. We care for patients with congestive heart failure, acute myocardial infarcts (STEMI, NSTEMI), cardiac dysrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary edema, amputations, etc.

Patients require many interventions on this unit including, echocardiogram, nuclear studies, pacemakers, percutaneous coronary intervention, vascular surgery, cardioversion and cath lab procedures. On this unit, you will become an expert at interpreting cardiac rhythms and skilled in drip titration, and post cath interventions such as TR Bands and Femoral Sheath pulls. Our nurses are trained in ACLS, NIHSS and responds to code blue events throughout the hospital.

The Clinical Supervisor provides direct patient care and supervises the nursing operations of a unit. In the absence of the Manager or Director may assume 24-hour nursing responsibility. Works with a unit specific patient population.

REQUIRED:

1.Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with one (1) year of nursing experience in area of specialty.

2.Associates Degree with three (3) years' clinical experience OR Bachelor's in Nursing with Two (2) years' clinical experience.

3.Demonstrated ability to set priorities and make appropriate clinical and supervisory decisions. Must possess good problem solving skills.

4.Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

5.Certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

6.Other certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required based on department needs.

PREFERRED:

Successful completion of a management course prior to appointment, or within six (6) months of employment.
