Provide interim support to skilled nursing facilities as needed and assigned to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and to achieve compliance with company policies and procedures, State and Federal regulations and clinical standards of practice.   • Ensure facility compliance with company policies/procedures and State/ Federal regulations. Provide education, system implementation and monitoring, and development of performance improvement plans in conjunction with Administrators and Directors of Nursing to promote positive resident outcomes.

  • Assist with training facility management including Directors of Nursing, Resident Care Manager, and licensed nurses and nursing assistants as requested, on company skilled nursing policies and procedures, and State and Federal regulations.

  • Provide interim DNS support as assigned.

  • Provide interim support as needed through the survey process including assistance with preparation for survey and monitoring for compliance.

  • Provide training to Prestige P and P as well as implementation of systems new to DNS.

  • Prepare visit reports and audit results for the Regional Director of Operations, Regional Nurse Consultant, and Senior Regional Support Nurse.

  • May be assigned other interim duties as needed.


  • Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, residents' families, visitors and staff. All information obtained in the field, or at Central Support, is kept strictly confidential.

  • Protects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the residents and employees.


  • As an interim DNS, will supervise nursing staff in the building.

  • As the Clinical Specialist, over the course of training of a new DNS, will systematically transition supervisory responsibility to the new DNS.


  • The Director of Nursing must have a RN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.

  • Minimum of 4 years working in geriatric nursing, including experience with medication administration, delivery systems and pharmacies.

  • 2 years in supervisory/management position, including experience with budgets, staff development, training and scheduling.

  • Additional course work in management is an asset.

  • Working knowledge of MDS process, state and federal survey, and CMS is preferred.


Able to communicate effectively, in English, with personnel at all levels of the organization, with residents, their friends and family, and with members of the community. Ability to present training to small and large groups. Computer skills include at least a working knowledge of Microsoft Office including e-mail, Excel and Word.


  • Ability to accurately assess, trouble-shoot, and problem-solve to meet the needs of the skilled nursing facility, residents, and clinical staff.

  • Ability to develop plans for improving clinical systems that can be implemented with others. Able evaluate results of the plan and modify it as needed.

This is a full-time exempt, day shift, position that will join a collaborative system wide team to provide clinical education identification, program development and implementation, nursing clinical expertise, and standards of practice. Ideal candidate will have a Med-Surg, ICU, or Procedural nursing background with strong clinical education and/or professional development experience in a hospital setting. Responsible for clinical education identification, program development and implementation using nursing theory, nursing clinical expertise, standards of practice, and adult education principles. Designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates educational programs that facilitate the professional growth, skill development, initial/ongoing competence, and attainment of standards of care for direct care providers. Actively collaborates with quality, safety and others on performance improvement activities to enhance patient safety, satisfaction, staff competence and standards of care.Facilitates identification of system-wide clinical excellence and simulation priorities and standards. Facilitates and Partners with multiple stakeholders on the development of annual competency and training from the needs assessment to evaluation process. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Collaborates within and across the system with quality, performance improvement, safety, nursing leadership, specific clinical operational areas and others in defining clinical education opportunities and selecting solutions. * Designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates educational programs that facilitate the professional growth, skill development, initial/ongoing competence, and attainment of standards of care for direct care providers. Utilizes nursing theory, nursing clinical expertise, standards of practice, and adult education principles to plan, implement and evaluate impact of education activities.Incorporates evidence based practice and or research findings into educational programs and activities. * Implements and supports unit based orientation process for new employees by initiating the competency validation process, monitoring/recording the progress/weeks of orientation consumed, and assisting clinical leadership with selecting clinical coaches. * Collaborates with clinical education leadership to complete annual needs assessments, and develop the plan and materials needed for staff preparation. * Ensures standardized training strategies meet patient safety, legal, regulatory, and risk management elements of performance. * Partners with learning technology team and other stakeholders as appropriate to ensure clinical training assignments are applied to appropriate jobs and documentation of training is accurate. * Performs other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS : * Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with a Master of Science in Nursing or Education required. * Three years of previous experience in Med-Surg, ICU, Procedures (IR, Endoscopy, Infusion, etc). * Significant clinical education experience in a hospital setting. * ANCC Board Certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred, required within two (2) years of hire. * Current Washington State Registered Nurse license required at time of hire. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator strongly preferred. * Certification in nursing specialty preferred: (Such as: Adult/Critical Care Nursing (CCRN), Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN)Experience in high-fidelity simulation preferred. * Learning Management System experience preferred. * TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer preferred.
