Job Summary

Position is responsible for ensuring the successful educational programming development of the Center for Simulation, Advanced Education and Innovation. Responsibilities include working together with medical, nursing, and other healthcare educators to develop, schedule, coordinate, and implement innovative educational modules involving simulation technology, and interfacing with vendors to evaluate, maintain, repair, and improve simulation training technology and equipment.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Serves a role model and advocate for patient safety and quality care.

  • Aligns Center activities to support CHOP mission, values, and strategic goals.

  • Serves as a simulation consultant to CHOP and external committees, work groups, and projects related to the implementation of simulation-based educational activities.

  • Serves as mentor to foster the development of Center faculty and employees.

  • Identifies and recruits internal and external resources for education activities.

  • Facilitates team building and leadership development by working collaboratively with Center partners, including other CHOP departments, external education organizations, and venders.

  • Provides detailed program analysis and reports.

  • Promotes cost effectiveness and demonstrates appropriate stewardship of Center and CHOP resources.

  • Coordinate simulation schedule and set-up, support for all simulation operations.

  • Program, test, and run scenarios with faculty and instructors to ensure the facility is set-up for learning sessions.

  • Create innovative ideas and identify opportunities for technology improvement and integration in simulation education.

Communication

  • Interprets and communicates across multiple disciplines.

  • Identifies and communicates discovery of latent threats, system issues, and performance concerns to appropriate CHOP leadership.

  • Evaluates equipment needs (capitol and operating) and recommends to Manager of Operations.

Education

  • Facilitates the adult learning process that creates safe non-threatening climate which supports learning across the health care system.

  • Develop curriculum and educational materials for different levels and types of training, including setting appropriate level objectives, materials, evaluation tools.

  • Maintain and archive confidential simulation program educational records.

  • Plans, prepares, and maintains materials for use in simulation programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience.

  • Adjust content and teaching strategies appropriate for the learners' needs.

  • Develops short- and long-term planning and programs to meet identified institutional, departmental, and individual needs.

  • Secures appropriate learning space for simulation programs.

  • Teaches content as needed or assigned within clinical expertise.

Technical

  • Supports and maintains departmental databases related to equipment, resources, and program activities

  • Develop and implement a maintenance plan to include troubleshooting, standard or preventive maintenance, and supply acquisition.

Other

  • Maintains currency in simulation education through the review of relevant journals, abstracts, and scientific literature in existing and emerging simulation technologies, including underlying educational principles.

  • Collaborate with health care professionals and other personnel to develop and coordinate simulation education research projects.

  • Assists with planning and execution of continuing medical education courses or other special courses.

  • Serve as liaison to outside sources, including commercial vendors, educational entities, and other medical simulation centers.

  • Carry out special projects and other duties as assigned by Center leadership.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Instructor in BLS - (90 days)

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree required in health care, education, or related field

  • Minimum 3 years experience in clinical, educational research, and/or healthcare education required

  • Must have and maintain licensure or certification, if a clinical health care provider

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Instructor in PALS and/or ACLS

  • Strong administrative, organizational and communication (both verbal and written) skills required

  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

  • Ability to interact with co-workers in a professional and helpful manner

  • Professional telephone etiquette

As the Director of Clinical Pharmacology Modelling and Simulation (CPMS) you will lead a science driven group delivering clinical pharmacology and modelling & simulation excellence to development programs. You'll have the opportunity to work on both small molecules and biologics in the HIV Disease area. These responsibilities include some of the following: * Responsibilities generally commence post-lead optimization with accountability occurring from approximately 6 months prior to FTIH through to life cycle management. * Provide optimal application of Clinical Pharmacokinetic (PK), Pharmacodynamic (PD), and Modeling & Simulation (MS) principles towards efficient drug development, risk management, and registration of compounds. * Play a central role in predicting human dose range, characterising exposure-response relationship and justifying dose recommendations for special populations. * Develop mathematical models to understand disease, its progression, and drug pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics; conduct meta-analyses as appropriate to generate knowledge through data re-use; conduct simulations to assess trial design performance. * Present strategy and discuss outcome of model-based approaches via interactions with governance boards and regulatory agencies. * Provide a thorough understanding and ability to apply appropriate FDA and ICH guidelines in the design of clinical studies and drug development strategy. * Promote model-informed drug discovery and development (MID3) through external collaboration, journal publication and conference presentation.
