Certifying Scientist - Confirmation Laboratory, 2nd Shift (2-11pm)

You will be expected to learn and adhere to standard operating procedures in confirming samples for drugs in a high throughput laboratory
accurately receive, sort, open and review incoming samples
learn and accurately execute daily: Laboratory Information Management Software (LIMS) to process samples; LC/MS/MS confirmation procedures; analysis, review and reporting of test results; operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment maintain and ensure high level of accuracy and quality for results, records and documentation
manage time effectively to maintain production levels and meet production goals contribute, recommend and develop ideas for continuous process improvement and performance for procedures, workflow and the Quality Program
work efficiently, both independently and in a team-oriented environment
You will impact the company by building customer trust, providing accurate results within promised turn-around-time
providing great support to your team members, ensuring our Confirmation Team is the best driving us to meet our production goals by being accountable for your work working hard and playing hard

Bachelors, Master's or PhD of Science in chemistry, toxicology, biochemistry, pharmacology or related field required.

Minimum five (5) years of experience working in a laboratory environment. Possess knowledge of LC/MS/MS, experience with either GC/MS or LC/MS/MS and theoretical knowledge of fundamental and advanced techniques of separation science. Previous work experience in a high throughput laboratory preferred.

VIEW JOBS 11/11/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-09T00:00 JOB DESCRIPTION The Ruminant Biologics group at Zoetis is seeking a talented, experienced, innovative and highly motivated professional to contribute towards the discovery and development of novel biological cattle vaccines. The Global Biologics Research designs and develops novel biological products to address economically impactful diseases in livestock and companion animals. The successful applicant will be leading R&D product development teams and will also interact with global manufacturing. Further the candidate is expected to work hands-on while providing strong technical support to the project teams composed of colleagues working across multiple disciplines. To be successful the candidate will have good knowledge in infectious diseases of livestock, development of in vitro and in vivo assays and disease models. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential. The position is in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES * Is responsible for overall conduct of Ruminant biologicals projects development within Veterinary Medicine Research and Development (VMRD). * Is responsible for the project strategies that include identification of the technical and regulatory hurdles as well as mitigation risks * Drive innovation and continuous improvements. * Collaborate with colleagues in VMRD, Global Manufacturing Supply and Commercials Development and Life Cycle Innovation to advance R&D projects. * Responsible to provide regular updates in timely manner to senior management. * Ensure that studies are conducted in compliance with applicable requirements, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), corporate policies, and regulatory requirements and guidelines (e.g., Good Clinical Practice and Good Laboratory Practice). * Mentor other scientists EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Minimum * PhD or DVM in bacteriology, parasitology or virology. * Clinician expertise with bovines/ruminants * Experience with livestock infectious diseases. * Experience in directing own scientific research, identifying new targets and leading projects. * Experience in establishing in vitro assays (cellular, molecular and immuno- assays) and in vivo animal models. * Able to prioritize work and work efficiently with a minimum of supervision. * Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. * Computer skills: Microsoft (word, excel, power point, outlook, project), Mindjet. Preferred * At least 3 years of research and/or development in animal health companies. * Basic knowledge in biochemistry and immunology is an upside.
