BASIC FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for performing clinical retrospective review in accordance with the application of medical necessity criteria using the Medical Management software system and M & R criteria (nationally accredited criteria set); consulting with physician advisors, providers, and members to assist them in their understanding of the requirements of their health plan and to ensure proper information is recorded in the case summary; assisting members in their requests for clinical waivers, inclusive of the identification of available providers/services within their area; explaining the appeal process to members/providers for denial of services requested in accordance with legislation and accreditation standards; and assisting with the claims adjudication process.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with unrestricted, current license in state of operations.

  • 3 years of clinical practice experience.

  • 1 year health insurance/managed care experience.

  • Knowledge of accreditation standards/legislation, i.e. URAC, NCQA.

  • PC and database experience.

  • Verbal and written communication skills.

  • Organizational skills and prioritization skills.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of BCBSIL Medical Management Policies and Procedures.

VIEW JOBS 11/15/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-13T00:00 Program Manager Surgical Clinical Review RN Combine your Nursing expertise and computer talents to make a significant impact at Rush Position Highlights: * Chief responsibility is to collect and submit reliable data related to the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) Pediatric database * Collaborate with other staff to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other applicable special projects * Will work with Pediatric NSQIP Database * Position is Monday through Friday; No weekends or holidays Position Responsibilities: * Responsible for identification of pediatric surgery patients for inclusion in the program registry through the application of program criteria and protocol * Responsible for reliable collection of pre-operative, operative, and post-operative data components through utilization of the hospital medical record system * Utilize available software applications for data collection and analysis to facilitate PI projects * Review weekly site accrual report and respond to accrual report alerts * Responsible for the accurate and timely entry of data into the program's website * Will meet expectation to meet the accrual requirement of cases per year through the application of the program's randomization protocol * Attends weekly Morbidity and Mortality Conferences to ensure reliable data collection of postop occurrences * Demonstrates applicability of the methodology and the reliability of definitions utilized by reviewers through Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) testing * Expectation to identify areas for streamlining and process improvement in the data collection process * Contacts patients and/or families post-operatively to gather data regarding surgical procedures performed Position Qualifications Include: * BSN or MSN required * Must have a current IL RN license * Minimum 3 years clinical RN in pediatric surgery experience required; pediatric general surgery, pediatric surgical clinic, PICU, or NICU experience preferred * Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, Access and Word (testing will occur) * Clinical chart review and abstraction experience required * Must be very detail oriented and an independent problem solver. * Strong analytical skills required addressing operational and systems related problems, to gather and interpret clinical data and to propose appropriate action plans Company Highlights: * Ranked among the top academic medical centers in the country, Rush University Medical Center is an outstanding place to enhance your career.
