Summary

To assist with research activities in the Department of Psychiatry related to projects funded by the National Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer's Association. Key projects will focus on family caregivers and older adults living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The overall goal of this research program is to identify potentially modifiable daily experiences (e.g., daily stress and coping strategies) within care dyads (i.e., family caregivers and they people they support) that influence health and well-being over time.

Responsibilities*

With guidance from faculty and research personnel, the Clinical Research Technician will work under the direction of the Clinical Research Coordinator to:

  • Assist with multiple organizational and administrative details of assigned projects, including but not limited to the recruitment, screening, and scheduling of study participants.

  • Serve as the lead interviewer for the research team, which will involve conducting telephone interviews and assisting in the training of research assistants.

  • Assume primary responsibility for cleaning and offloading of data from study devices (e.g., actigraphy monitors to measure physical activity and sleep) and performing preliminary analyses of the actigraphy data.

  • Develop, program, and test surveys; conduct telephone or video calls to review study procedures with study participants; assist in the preparation of IRB applications, progress reports, and other summary materials; and perform literature searches.

  • Order materials, track research related supplies, detailed record-keeping, filing, preparing study mailings and newsletters, the sending and receiving of study equipment, study participant payments, assisting with the supervision and training of student research assistants, and other duties as assigned.

  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication, conference presentations, and grant proposals.

  • There will be opportunities to lead and/or collaborate on papers, posters, and presentations for scientific meetings.

  • Work independently and collaboratively with other team members to fulfill the goals of the projects.

Required Qualifications*

  • Associate degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

  • ONE of the following:

  • Minimum 1 years of directly related experience in clinical research and clinical trials is necessary. Please review SoCRA's Definition of a Clinical Research Professional
