We are seeking a Clinical Research Specialist (CRS) to join our team in clinical, social and behavioral research to promote the health and wellbeing of youth. The CRS will play a lead role in the collection, transporting, and laboratory processing of select biological samples (hair, saliva and blood via venipuncture) among unhoused youth participating in randomized controlled trials (RCT) and observational research studies.

The CRS will also lead the scheduling, training and oversight of student research assistants involved in the collection and processing of biological specimens. The position will involve local travel, collection of biological samples in the community, and transporting youth to local sites for the biological sample data collection when needed.

Responsibilities include: (1) Collecting biological samples (hair, saliva and blood via venipuncture) in the community, transporting the specimens to the Stress Science Lab in the College of Nursing, and processing the samples (centrifuge for plasma and aliquot) for freezer storage; (2) Overseeing, training, and coordinating the scheduling of research assistants who will be assisting in the collection, transporting and laboratory processing of the select biological samples; (3) Conducting data entry, organizing and managing the laboratory database for the specimen collection for accuracy and completeness; (4) Maintaining and ordering supplies for the collection and laboratory processing of select biological samples; and (5) Engaging in activities and monitoring those of the research assistants to ensure compliance with all Institutional Review Boards (IRB) NIH, laboratory and participant safety regulations.

Minimum education required: Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences or other medical field, or equivalent combination of education experience.

Minimum experience required: 1 year of relevant experience is required.

Desired Qualifications: strong phlebotomy skills highly desired; experience performing basic laboratory procedures; experience in research and with youth desired.

The position will require some flexibility in the work schedule as well as local travel. Based on grant funding, this position will last 4-5 years with a potential end date of 07/31/2028. This position requires the successful completion of a background check.
