A Clinician-Scientist is a practicing healthcare provider at Brooks that has additional research-related training and experience, and is actively engaged in both clinical practice and research. The ideal candidate will be a physical therapist with at least 3- 5 years of clinical experience and Board Certification in Neurologic PT. Leadership experience such as leading projects, task forces, management, or evidence of advancing clinical practice or processes is strongly preferred. Candidates who will be successful in this role will demonstrate a high value for teamwork, flexibility, strong communication, and critical thinking.
Responsibilities:
Develop Research
Identify research questions that help advance rehabilitation science and practice.
Assist in generating scientifically sound research protocols that are feasible to implement and answer clinically important questions.
Assist in identifying and submitting for extramural research funding
Assist in submitting research protocols for IRB approval
Comply with BRCRC policies and procedures related to applying for new research activities
Conduct Research
Coordinate enrollment and obtain informed consent from study participants.
Work with research team to implement study protocols with an emphasis on accuracy and safety.
Carry out study-related assessments, interventions, or other data collection procedures with research participants in accordance with study protocols.
Maintain appropriate documentation and study records.
Comply with data collection and record keeping standards outlined in IRB-approved protocols.
Maintain privacy, confidentiality, accuracy, objectivity, and professionalism in all written documentation and medical records
Document and communicate Adverse Events (AEs) and Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) and unanticipated problems in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory and protocol requirements.
Disseminate Research Findings
Participate in submitting research findings for presentation and/or publication to national audiences.
Participate in preparing and delivering presentations of research findings.
Participate in preparing manuscripts and other publications related to research findings.
Provide educational sessions to Brooks clinicians related to research findings.
Participate in events highlighting research conducted at Brooks Rehabilitation.
Communication
Facilitate communication with research team in writing, through conference calls and regular meetings.
Maintain frequent communication with the BRCRC operations manager and research director regarding research activities, current study status, and future directions.
Communicate resource needs and utilization (human, physical space, materials, etc.) to operations manager
Maintain professional communication skills when interacting with others; facilitate a harmonious working environment.
Assists in annual peer reviews of co-workers.
Professional Development
Maintain skills appropriate to clinical practice and research activities.
Consistently reflect on learning needs and seek out opportunities to expand both clinical and research knowledge and skills.
Attend national scientific conferences related to area of practice and research.
Participate in professional service activities in areas related to practice and research.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualification is a Master's level professional degree and active license as a healthcare professional.
3-5 years of clinical experience and Board Certification in Neurologic PT strongly preferred
Leadership experience such as leading projects, task forces, management, or evidence of advancing clinical practice or processes is strongly preferred.
Must also demonstrate additional research-related training and experience such as a professional or academic doctorate, residency training, or extensive prior research experience.
Discipline-specific clinical skills and experience required.
Must also be self-motivated, able to work well both independently and with a team, demonstrate high levels of critical thinking and complex problem-solving, and be able to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences.
Proficient in developing visual and written scientific communications such as presentations and manuscripts.
Good time management and independent follow through on work is also critical to this position.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
