The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), a Harvard affiliate, is looking for an exceptional candidate to join the research group of Dr. Long H. Nguyen in the Division of Gastroenterology and Clinical and Translational Epidemiology Unit. The successful candidate will join a research program focused on computational method development to interrogate the human microbiome and the applied usage of such workflows in the context of GI cancer and liver disease. The program and position are robustly funded with a minimum two-year commitment.
The successful candidate will leverage their extensive prior research experience to jointly develop and execute computational research projects that they will lead (65%), guide and support more junior trainees in the completion of their projects and collaborate with a number of external collaborators (25%), serve as an operational and scientific leader within the laboratory, and assist the PI with administrative duties including manuscript drafting, grant writing, and relevant progress reports (<10%). The candidate will need a thorough understanding of data/information quality principles, must be comfortable with analysis of large multi-omic datasets and canonical scientific programming languages (R or Python), and should understand the specific challenges of data analysis in diverse human populations. Candidates should be self-motivated, independent, comfortable accepting feedback, and working within a team environment on multiple projects simultaneously.
