The California Heart Center is an affiliate of the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute, located in Beverly Hills, California, 90211. We offer the full spectrum of cardiology care, including, Cardiac Evaluation/Adult Cardiology, Heart Failure Management, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography.

In addition to our private cardiology practice, CA Heart Center physicians are active clinical research investigators and hold leadership positions in heart failure, heart transplantation, and mechanical cardiac assist devices and heart failure/transplant clinical research at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute (CSHI). In addition to its highly-regarded cardiology program, CSHI is doing groundbreaking work in other important cardiovascular areas, including cardiac stem cell transplants and non-surgical heart valve replacements. In partnership with CSHI, the California Heart Center offers a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach to the care of patients with heart disease.

Summary of Essential Job Duties

The Clinical Research Coordinator II works independently providing study coordination including screening of potential research participants for protocol eligibility, presenting non-medical trial concepts and details, and participating in the informed consent process. Responsible for accurate and timely source documents, data collection, documentation, entry, and reporting including timely response to sponsor queries. Responsible for compiling and reporting on each study including information related to protocol activity, accrual data, workload, and other research information; presents this information at regular research staff meetings. May plan and coordinate strategies for increasing research participant enrollment, improving efficiency, training of personnel, or identifying new research opportunities. Ensures compliance with all federal and local agencies including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and local Institutional Review Board (IRB).


Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a health science or related area.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

Phlebotomy certification preferred.


  • Experience in clinical research coordination or CRC certification (ACRP/SoCRA), or related experience.

  • Experience working in cardiology or transplantation disciplines preferred.

  • Experience in federal grant proposal development and grant submissions, and knowledge of IRB clinical research application procedures preferred.

  • Experience working in an academic research setting with complex Cardiac Transplant patients preferred

  • Experience in federal grant proposal development and grant submissions and knowledge of IRB clinical research applications procedures preferred

As the Regulatory Coordinator I, you will prepare and submit protocols and supporting documents to regulatory bodies such as PRMC, IRB, and IACUC. This role submits continuations, amendments, responds to questions, generates reports, and maintains research files and documentation involving the regulatory requirements for the study/clinical trial. Other duties include, representing the Medical Center when meeting with pharmaceutical companies, participate weekly team meetings, and working with other staff to insure all regulatory documents and requirements are met and up-to-date. Ensures compliance with all federal and local agencies including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and local Institutional Review Board (IRB). The Regulatory Coordinator I will also be responsible for the following: * Provide regulatory support for new and ongoing research studies. Includes but not limited to correspondence with institutional and federal regulators and study file documentation creation and maintenance. * Ensure compliance of general and study specific regulatory related processes with SOPs, FDA, NIH, and applicable regulations for the reporting of events to regulatory agencies. * Coordinate and store protocol files including but are not limited to: all protocol submission documents, correspondence from sponsor and study team, and responses/re-submissions. * Maintain regulatory-related internal tracking databases and filing systems. * Assist in compilation of regulatory-related metrics for use by senior management. * Participates in the pre-pending study management process including Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements (CDAs) and Feasibility Questionnaires (FQs). * Participate in Disease Research Group (DRG) meetings. * Communication with study staff to ensure the maintenance and accuracy of the Delegation of Duties and Authority Log (DOAL). Ensure in conjunction with the DOAL that all subsequent training (whether initial or with a new study protocol amendment/modification) is completed for all study personnel and documentation maintained within the regulatory binder. * Ensure all necessary forms are submitted to the trial sponsor and the IRB. Other duties as assigned by senior management. * Meets with monitors from pharmaceutical companies and represents the Medical Center during these meetings. * Works closely with the clinical trial coordinator, research staff, and investigators to assure that all regulatory documents for the research studies are up-to-date. * Attends weekly research team meetings and updates staff and investigators on the status of regulatory submission and amendments.
