Roles & Responsibilities:

The Clinical Research Coordinator assists in the daily activities of clinical research studies, obtains informed consent; collects, maintains and organizes study information. Assists in preparing grant applications and documents (for e.g., Institutional Review Board, Grants and Contracts Office).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collects and records study data. Inputs all information into database

  • Obtains informed consent under minimal supervision of the investigator(s) and educates participants regarding study requirements

  • Assists in the activities related to clinical research studies including but not limited to: answering phone calls, screening participants for eligibility, registering subjects with sponsoring agency, administering lifestyle questionnaires

  • Assists in preparing grant applications, IRB/GCO for submission and filings

  • Maintains source documents and subject files in accordance with hospital procedures. Ensures accurate and complete compilation of subject data through chart reviews

  • Secures, delivers and ships clinical specimens as required by the protocol

  • Prepares for monitoring visits

  • Performs other related duties

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science or closely related field

  • 1-2 years prior research experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

The candidate will support day-to-day lab operations to ensure successful research in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Responsibilities * Tracking, renewal, and upkeep of all of the laboratory's human subjects and non-human subjects research protocols, liaising with the Institutional Review Board and other institutional compliance offices as appropriate * Recruitment of patients for research studies * Organization and reporting of research data * Data management and creation of databases * Coordination of internal research teams and external collaborators * Serve as a liaison in the laboratory for all regulatory and compliance-related questions * Liaise with international and domestic collaborators to obtain relevant approval and consent documentation * Coordinate review of materials and data usage/transfer agreements with various institutional legal teams * Under the direction and guidance of university safety and compliance offices, ensures lab compliance with human subjects research regulations and tracking ethical and biological safety training of lab members * Participate in researching the ethical consideration of studies * Work closely with university compliance offices, coordinates training for lab members in areas such as ethics and compliance, health information and privacy, responsible conduct of research, etc. * Other duties as assigned in lab administrative operations Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in life sciences, management, public health, or related field, plus 4 years of experience in a laboratory or research-based academic environment. * High-level writing skills and experience drafting and editing scientific, regulatory, and policy documents preferred * Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work items based on future impact, value to the department, deadlines, etc * Demonstrated ability to work with multiple constituents on a variety of projects, flexibility, and willingness to take on assignments are essential * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage 2-3 other research coordinators, as well as work as part of a team to handle complex and confidential information with discretion * Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
