Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates is seeking a Clinical Recovery Specialist to join our tissue recovery team! We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual who wants to save and enhance lives and make a difference. The Clinical Recovery Specialist surgically recovers donated bone and tissue which will be used for transplantation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to affect the lives of potentially over 50 people per tissue recovery. The specific duties of a Clinical Recovery Specialist include facilitating the recovery, preservation, storage and transportation process of donated corneas, bone and other tissues and organs under highly sterile conditions. The CRS is also responsible for providing technical support in organ recovery cases. The CRS may also be required to perform non-technical duties such as public / professional education.
Many of the surgical tissue recoveries performed occur in the KODA recovery suite, but some travel in the assigned area can be anticipated. Significant on-call responsibility is required. This position works rotating 24-hour on-call shifts to facilitate the recovery of tissue. Due to the on-call nature of this position, a flexible schedule is a must! Must have active driver's license and reliable transportation to report on-site within a reasonable time frame (30 to 45 minutes) to the Louisville, KY office.
Minimum Qualifications for this position:
Required:
High School Diploma, or equivalent.
Prior health care, pathology, or embalming experience required
Must be certified as a Tissue Bank Specialist within 18 months of eligibility for the exam
Preferred:
Post-secondary education or training in a medical, biology or related field.
Prior experience as a surgical assistant, tissue recovery or tissue banking specialist. Experience in Surgical Technology, EMT, ER Tech or similar experience.
