This includes the provision of individual, family, group therapies, crisis intervention, advocacy, assessment, planning, discharge planning, interdisciplinary teamwork and community liaison. Residential Clinical Therapists are responsible for formulating and implementing appropriate treatment strategies for students and their families on their assigned caseload and for timely and satisfactory documentation of all treatment efforts. The Residential Clinical Therapist adheres to standards and regulations as set forth by the agency, The Joint Commission and OCS licensing. The Residential Clinical Therapist is expected to abide by all safety rules and regulations of the facility. The responsibilities of the Residential Clinical Therapist are carried out according to AK Child &amp; Family policies, and mission of AK Child &amp; Family and its philosophy of care. Assumes additional duties as assigned.*All positions at AK Child &amp; Family may have responsibilities altered during the course of employment due to agency <span class="long-word">imperatives.Supervision</span> and Coordination of Services:The Residential Clinical Therapist reports to the Associate Director of Residential Services. The Residential Clinical Therapist collaborates with all other disciplines through interdisciplinary teamwork and assigned committee responsibilities. The Residential Clinical Therapist is a member of the clinical services department and coordinates clinical services with all members of the treatment team. The Residential Clinical Therapist adheres to the professional ethics of the American Psychological Association or the National Association of Social Workers (M.S.W. only). The Residential Clinical Therapist collaborates and coordinates services with all staff via established committees and performance improvement activities.</p><p><strong><span class="long-word">Qualifications:Knowledge,</span> Skills and Abilities:</strong> Residential Clinical Therapist must have the ability to relate to and experience in working with emotionally disturbed <span class="long-word">children/adolescents</span> and their families in a psychiatric or residential setting. Knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and assessment, child/adolescent development, family systems therapy, separation and loss, physical/sexual abuse, trauma, individual and group therapies is essential. Demonstrated psycho-social assessment, treatment planning, advocacy skills and case management skills; excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills; <span class="long-word">creativity/flexibility</span> on delivery of services; and the ability to function on an interdisciplinary treatment team are essential components of the position. The Residential Clinical Therapist demonstrates an understanding and sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse and/or special needs population. This position requires a valid driver&rsquo;s license and ability to travel between campuses and within the community.</p><p><strong>Education and experience:</strong> A Residential Clinical Therapist must hold a Masters Degree in psychology, counseling, or social work from an accredited school. Two years post-graduate experience working with emotionally disturbed <span class="long-word">children/adolescents</span> and their families preferred. Experience working in a residential setting preferred. Experience in cognitive therapies, sexual abuse treatment, play therapy and family therapy is preferred, pending specific clinical assignment. The Residential Clinical Therapist must obtain a license to practice mental health <span class="long-word">counseling/psychology</span> in the state of Alaska as soon as eligible to sit for the exam, but no later than two years from initial date of employment at AK Child &amp; Family.</p><p><strong>Physical Demands:</strong> The Residential Clinical Therapist must be able to drive a personal and/or AK Child &amp; Family vehicle, transport students, and meet with families both on and off campuses. He/She must produce in a timely manner, assessments and other documentation required by AK Child &amp; Family, insurance and referral sources. The Residential Clinical Therapist must be able to produce legible student records and prepare reports using a computer. He/She must be able to meet with DJJ, OCS, insurance, and other mental health personnel related to students and their families as well as for networking and professional growth in person and via telephone.
