Role Overview

Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Clinical Practice Leader RN is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and improvement of all clinical operations and clinical staff for two WHP Family Medicine practices both located at our state-of-the-art facility at 10 Members Way in Dover, NH 03820:

  • Adult and Children's Medicine of Dover

  • Dover Family Practice

As Family Medicine offices, we provide outstanding primary care and preventive health care to patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors. The operating hours of both sites are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The Clinical Practice Leader RN will have ~20 direct reports of medical assistants and nurses. There are 12 providers amongst the two practices plus embedded/integrated support including a clinical ambulatory pharmacist, RN Care Manager, Social Work and two Behavioral Health Consultants.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and oversee nursing and medical assistant activities in collaboration with the department leadership team, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.

  • Provide support to providers and provide leadership for clinical problem solving.

  • Share responsibility for nursing process and outcomes, providing staff performance coaching for process and quality improvement.

  • Design, implement, and evaluate nursing care models in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Clinical Operations.

  • Manage the flow of the clinic to ensure compliance, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

  • Assist with coordination and presentation of department staff meetings and clinical meetings.

  • Assume accountability for daily clinical operations including all supervisory responsibilities.

  • Manages clinical personnel issues, develops staff schedules, conducts orientation, training, and staff development. Conducts performance evaluations, disciplinary action, hiring, termination, and similar actions. Resolves grievances within scope of authority and oversees personnel issues.

  • Investigates and resolves clinical complaints and problems. This includes staff grievances and patient/family clinical concerns and complaints.

  • Provides input into the development of the operating and capital budget. Makes recommendations regarding strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Manages financial resources to meet budget expectations. Justifies variances from budget and implements actions to achieve budget expectations.

  • Acquire and maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing professional practice.

  • Involves staff in projects that encourage and provide opportunities for professional development.

  • Contribute to improving quality & consistency of patient care & experience.

  • This role will also include hybrid responsibilities for direct patient care when clinical operations warrant. This includes working in the call center and on the clinical floor.

  • Maintains established organizational and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement, safety, infection control, compliance, and environmental standards.

We do our best to keep all employees in their assigned practices and locations; however, you may also be asked to float to other departments (located in the same building) or travel to other WHP locations when appropriate and needed during times of staffing shortages/other extenuating circumstances for cross-coverage purposes and to ensure adequate coverage and support.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate profile is an adaptable, receptive, and dynamic "people leader" with proven clinical operations and supervisory experience. The focus of this position is working well with others, building and maintaining relationships, effective communication, and motivating a team of diverse individuals to work in alignment to achieve office and organizational goals.

Education:

  • BSN degree required

Experience:

  • 3 years RN experience in an acute care setting and/or ambulatory primary care required

  • 5 years' experience as an RN plus leadership/supervisory experience preferred

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Active RN licensure in the state of NH

  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
