What You Will Do:
Under limited supervision, reviews and investigates medication events. Takes the lead for action plan implementation to improve medication safety within the pharmacy department.
Works collaboratively with the Department of Safety and Quality to improve medication safety at UMMC. Works with the Director of Pharmacy to ensure compliance with safety practices within the pharmacy department and within the hospital. Advises/consults with pharmacy and other clinical staff to improve medication safety practices.
Participates in research in the area of medication safety; responsible for publishing data or giving presentations at local, regional or national meetings; instructs and trains pharmacy residents and students. Acts as a mentor to clinical pharmacists.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Bachelor of Pharmacy from a college or university accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy is required. Master of Science, PhD or Doctor of Pharmacy from a college or university accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy is preferred. Five years of clinical pharmacy experience required with Bachelor's degree.
Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy is required.
Completion of an ASHP accredited pharmacy practice residency, specialty residency or a fellowship; or five years relative clinical or medication safety experience required. Completion of a PGY2 Residency is preferred
Completion of a formal training program for medication safety is preferred.
