Sentara Health is hiring a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Sentara Obici's Emergency Department in Suffolk, Virginia!

Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

Shift: Evening 1300-2130

Weekends: Every 3rd weekend

Holiday Rotation

Required qualifications:

  • 3 years Pharmacist experience in clinical/hospital setting

  • For candidates who do not have three years pharmacist experience, may substitute a PGY-1 residency program PLUS one year of experience or completion of a PGY-1 and PGY-2 residency program. (Each year of residency is equivalent to 2 years of experience)

  • Virginia Pharmacist license

  • BLD - Bachelor's Level Degree

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification

  • American Heart Association (AHA) required within 6 months of hire
  • Will consider pharmacists not licensed in Virginia/NC due to relocation. Must have Virginia or North Carolina (applicable to location) license within 90 days of Sentara start date

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior hospital experience strongly preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages patient drug therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards

  • Maintains current knowledge of drug use through continuing education

  • Serves as the primary resource for drug information within the hospital

  • Assures the appropriateness of all physician medication orders

  • Precepts pharmacy students as assigned.

DLD - Doctorate Level Degree: Pharmacy (Required)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Certification

  • American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification

  • American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Pharmacist License (RPh) - State license

  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP), Pharmacist License (RPh) - State license

  • Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
