Job Summary
The Clinical Pharmacy Manager is an advanced practice clinical pharmacist who is responsible for developing, monitoring, evaluating, and coordinating clinical pharmacy services that promote desirable patient outcomes. The Clinical Pharmacy Manager will develop and implement policies, procedures, process guidelines, and protocols to ensure the provision of safe, effective and economical pharmacotherapy for all patients in the hospital, ensuring compliance with clinical practice standards as well as Joint Commission and applicable federal, state and local laws and regulatory standards. The Clinical Pharmacy Manager sits on the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee and other key patient care/clinical committees. Responsibilities include direct supervision of clinical pharmacy staff who provide patient-focused pharmaceutical care. Other responsibilities include the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, management of human and capital resources, formulary management, and risk management functions for the clinical pharmacy program. The Clinical Pharmacy Manager also serves as the Residency Program Director for the Postgraduate Year-1 pharmacy residency program and oversee the operations of the program.
Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the clinical pharmacy to ensure the safe and effective use of medications
Develop and implement clinical pharmacy programs and services
Manage clinical pharmacy staff, including interviewing/hiring, training, monthly one-on-one meetings, and performance evaluations
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical pharmacy programs through regular audits and quality reviews
Serve as Residency Program Director to the PGY-1 Residency Program and coordinate and participate in all pertinent residency activities
Preceptor and coordinate resident rotations
Precept and coordinate pharmacy students rotations
Participate and report data for the antimicrobial stewardship program
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of clinical pharmacy activities
Provide education and training to pharmacy staff, healthcare providers, and patients
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the clinical pharmacy
Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives
Provide clinical pharmacy consultations and support
Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to clinical pharmacy services
Contribute to formulary management
Qualifications:
Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy with Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Completion of ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency
Current NYS Pharmacist License
Three years of Clinical Pharmacy experience required
Management experience preferred
