The Nurse Manager role development includes: demonstrating clinical knowledge and integrating evidence-based nursing practices focused on quality clinical outcomes; applying growth and development principles in directing/providing care appropriate to the ages served within the identified patient care department; demonstrating operational leadership in offering services that support the hospital#s mission, strategic goals, policies, and procedures; enhancing partnerships and workforce engagement; and supporting fiscal and resource management.

The Department Director or Department Nurse Manager assumes nurse leader responsibilities for the identified patient care department, including 24/7 accountability for the supervision of all registered nurses and other healthcare providers who deliver nursing care, during the mentorship period.

In the case of select units/departments, the Clinical Operations Supervisor position may be a supervisor position included in the unit/department structure reporting to the Department Nurse Manager ongoing. Mentoring for Department Nurse Manager positions is an expectation of the nurse leader role. # # Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education The individual must be a graduate of a recognized School of Nursing program.

Must have a BSN or education plan in place.

Three years of hospital clinical nursing experience required. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact in a professional manner with customers.

The individual must be licensed by the State of Indiana as a Registered Nurse. Revocation or inability to maintain licensure and/or registration may result in termination of the individual. Maintains current certifications in BLS and continuing educational requirements.
