Pennsylvania Hospital is currently seeking a full time Clinical Operations Nurse Specialist in the Operating Room. Facilitating the daily OR schedule is a critical role in the Operating Room and is best handled by a team of coordinators, managers, consistent clerical staff, and a consistent schedule runner due to the need for day to day schedule activities, opportunities, collaborations, and unexpected events. Communication and decision making are key features of the individuals in this position. Consistency also supports skilled decision making in that the selected individual(s), by virtue of being present daily, will encounter various scenarios which will result in a higher level of preparedness over time. As with any other practiced skill, running the schedule consistently will expose the individual on a frequent basis to multiple issues and obstacles, and they will in turn develop a repertoire of scenarios to reflect back on to assist with problem solving. The schedule runner will act from a place of knowing, this will lend itself to a more proactive approach, as opposed to reactive approach.
