Position is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of nutrition care for Adult, HVI, and Hospital-Based Clinic patients as well as supervising designated personnel.Job Description
Education: Bachelor's in Science in Dietetics/Human Nutrition and Foods or related field. Master's degree preferred or commensurate experience.
Current Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Texas licensure.
Prefer specialized certification: Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or certification in such areas as in renal, pediatric, sports dietetics, gerontological and/or oncology nutrition.
Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; and
BLS or Heart Saver certification.
Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in clinical nutrition in an acute care setting.
Two (2) years of progressive leadership experience.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills to weigh multiple factors when dealing with patient, families, staff, physicians and other health care providers.
Ability to professionally and effectively interact with medical staff, other managers, administration, and staff to resolve problems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to interact with patients, families and staff.
Possess the ability to creatively problem solve, work independently with minimal supervision and make decisions while working within a self-directed and team-oriented work environment
Completion of management/leadership training programs as designated by the institution within first year of employment. Ongoing management/leadership training programs as designated by organization's leadership.

Conducts quality assurance clinical audits, competency assessments and performance evaluations in order to ensure the Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance for Registered Dietitians is adhered to. If a staff clinician does not adhere to established performance standards, the corrective action process is implemented and escalated if needed with guidance from the human resources department.
Ensures fiscal responsibility by developing budgets that monitor expenditures and adhere to sound business practices.
Manages, supervises, trains, and mentors department personnel.
Provides nutrition education and expertise to physicians, patients, families and staff.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Nutrition in order to enhance professional expertise by attending professional meetings, reading appropriate journals, and participating in professional organizations.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and regulatory standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
