Ensures that both practice and professional standards are identified and maintained in the delivery of patient care, within specific patient populations, and that mutually determined patient outcomes are achieved. Integrates and supports professional practice and development through participation in nursing research & education.

A listing of the key responsibilities

  • Functions as an expert clinician/practitioner for a select population of patients to ensure best practice, quality and safety outcomes. Provides direct care to select patients/families as an expert clinician/role model. Facilitates continuity of care across the inpatient/outpatient continuum. Acts as a resource to all members of the health care team related to the provision of patient care. Enhances the assessment skills of others. Determines realistic goals for the optimal patient outcome. Assesses the learning needs of specific patient populations and develop patient/family educational tools, classes, or programs.

  • Consults with nursing staff and members of the health care team on patient/family issues. Acts as a patient advocate by consulting with the health care team to ensure that mutually determined outcomes are achieved. Consults with others and collaborates with Office of Professional Nursing on practice issues and ensures that high standards of professional practice are achieved. Initiates and participate in clinical improvement methods and projects. Provides consultation on professional issues in nursing and health care.

  • Promotes and participates in research and evidence-based practice. Investigates clinical issues to improve nursing/health care practice. Conducts research and quality improvement projects. Participates in product and equipment evaluation. Facilitates the determination of data needs, data collection, and evaluation of results.

  • Collaborates with others on continuing education, orientation and competency. Assesses the learning needs of nursing staff and collaborates with Office of Professional Nursing team and to develop educational strategies. Develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates educational programs based on identified learning needs and emerging trends. Collaborates with the others to facilitate the placement and education of nursing students in a specific area. Acts as a preceptor for Graduate nurse students. Supports the nursing process and organization's initiatives to meet regulatory requirements for documentation and practice.

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates standards of care within specialty. Identifies professional practice areas where change is needed. Creates and facilitates change.

  • Assumes accountability for own scholarly and professional activities.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MSN with a major in a specialty area of clinical nursing.

  • Demonstrated experience clinical leadership and education.

  • Affiliation with professional organization a strong recommendation.

Required Licensure/Certification

  • CNS/CNL/MSN-ARNP Advanced Certification in specialty area desirable.

  • Currently registered to practice nursing in NH.

Our Hyperbaric Unit has 2 monoplace chambers, used to treat a variety of medical problems. We are looking for a nurse who is creative, motivated, self-directed, an intuitive problem solver and looking for a greater level of autonomy. Nurses who work in this unit assess, plan, organize, provide and evaluate nursing care. You will prepare the patients for their hyperbaric treatments, administer the treatments and monitor the patients during treatments. Patient education and collaboration with other departments are an important aspect of this position. Also, must be willing to take on tasks that do not involve direct patient care (i.e. insurance authorization, ordering supplies, departmental credentialing process). Other aspects of this position are Quality Improvement and research projects. Minimum Qualifications: * Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program * NH Registered Nurse License * At least 1 year of Medical Surgical experience * Completion of an approved 40 hour basic Hyperbaric training course within 3 months of starting (if not already completed) * Hyperbaric RN certification within 2 years of starting (if not already certified in Hyperbaric Nursing) * BLS certification Dartmouth-Hitchcock Concord Lebanon NH
