Collaborate with members of the Department of Professional Development and other leaders to assess learning needs and to plan, conduct and evaluate educational programming including, but, not limited to, licensed and non-licensed orientation, nurse aide training, in servicing and continuing education. Provide unit-based clinical support and mentoring to facilitate direct caregiver knowledge and skill competence. Enhance job knowledge and professional development of all staff members.

Demonstrates ability to identify educational needs/gaps in staff knowledge.

Evaluates educational offerings and makes improvements as indicated.
Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in geriatric practice.
Provides formal and informal educational programming including orientation and ongoing in services.
Revises educational programs based upon assessments, evaluations and policy changes.
Actively measures educational outcomes and revises programming to attain or surpass set goals.
Remains current with evidence based practice and implements into clinical practice and educational programming.
Understands and actively contributes to meeting both department and organizational goals.
Provides consultation to influence the plan of care for residents/patients, enhance the abilities of health care providers, and effect change in the system.
Assumes a leadership role with establishing and monitoring standards of practice to improve resident/patient care.
Actively supports the model of care through role modeling and educational programming.
Initiates and revises nursing policies and procedures as directed by the leadership team.
Consults with department heads and other health care providers as needed to improve care.
Participates in short- and long-range planning for the Professional Development department.
Monitors staff completion of education expectations and provides reinforcement of expectations as needed.
Facilitates teams and work groups as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. MS required.
Massachusetts Nursing license required.
Three to five years of experience in acute care required.
Post-acute experience preferred.
BLS required, IV certification preferred.
Must be able to do off shifts as needed to meet educational outcomes.
Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.
Computer literacy required; experience with databases, PowerPoint, Word, Excel etc.
Online learning management system experience preferred.
