Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in BS Nursing

Thorough knowledge of clinical research procedures.
Excellent skill in intravenous catheter insertion, specimen collection, and
maintenance.
Ability to follow a clinical research protocol and to document deviations
from the protocol.
Ability to communicate effectively using diplomacy, courtesy, judgment, and
maturity in working and dealing with a variety of people. Ability to maintain
confidentiality.
CA Licensed Registered Nurse
Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
Experience required with Windows, MS Word
Duties:

Provide nursing procedures for resident and non-resident human nutrition
research studies as needed on a pre-scheduled basis. Enrollee performs
intravenous catheter insertion, specimen acquisition, intravenous infusions, and
timed blood draws per consulting physician orders on healthy volunteers. Ability
to lift 25 pounds. The enrollee shall not sign federal documents, authorize the
use of federal funds, nor initiate or conduct federally funded research
projects. The enrollee shall not author articles for publication as a federal
employee, nor coordinate scientific research between the Government and private
industry. The enrollee shall not present themselves as a Government employee or
Government representative at meetings both foreign and domestic or when
coordinating federal agencies? areas of research. The enrollee shall not make
decisions on federally based research on behalf of Government policy makers, and
the enrollee shall not supervise any Government employees. NEW Solutions is

Perform nursing procedures for resident and non-resident human nutrition
research studies. Duties include performing vital sign measurements,
administering medication, skin puncture for blood collection, venipuncture,
intravenous catheter insertion, specimen acquisition, intravenous infusions, and
timed blood draws. 80%
Perform laboratory functions including processing and shipping of blood
samples, urine pregnancy tests, and point of care CLIA exempt or regulated
laboratory tests as required per protocols. 10%
Documentation of all procedures performed, assessment of side effects and
adverse events related or unrelated to study treatment. Report protocol
deviations to supervisor, principal investigator, clinical research coordinator
or physician. 10%

Other:
Health and Safety Considerations: Enrollee will take Safety Training
(Bloodborne Pathogens/Medical Waste) through UC Davis Learning Management
System, similar to ARS employees.
