As members of the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences faculty, MFA providers are teachers and mentors for medical students, residents, fellows, and researchers preserving the rich tradition of academics, research, and healing. In addition to maintaining a closely integrated alliance with The George Washington University and The George Washington University Hospital (GWUH) which is separately owned and operated by Universal Health Services (UHS), the GW MFA has active referring relationships with 12 area hospitals.

The GW MFA's leading healthcare presence in the DC metro region is complemented by a network of community-based practices in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Given its geographic location in central NW Washington, DC, and proximity to more than 175 resident embassies, the MFA continues to evolve its international clinical outreach.

Position Summary

To manage the clinical care operations of an MFA practice group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage the clinical care operations of an MFA practice group in conjunction with the MFA Practice Group Administrator.

  • Oversee staff utilization, scheduling, and productivity.

  • Review and screen all non-physician clinical staff and recommend hire/salary actions to the MFA Group Practice Administrator; evaluate the performance of all non-physician clinical staff, counsel staff as appropriate, and recommend appropriate actions to include disciplinary actions to the MFA practice group.

  • Support physician and patient needs by assuring that the clinical goals and objectives of the MFA practice group are met.

  • Develop and implement ongoing training and education programs for all non-physician clinical support staff.

  • Develop, in collaboration with the MFA Practice Group Administrator, clinical policies and procedures of the practice group.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Quality Improvement and Customer service initiatives.

  • Oversee the scheduling of patients to ensure the optimal use of clinical resources; monitor assessment and service levels to determine trends and recommend appropriate action.

  • Maintains responsibility for the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.

  • Collaborate, as appropriate, with other group practice senior staff members.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • A Master's degree in Nursing or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licensure

  • Current and valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia, or evidence of application and a current out-of-state license.

Experience

  • A minimum of 4 years of nursing experience, including 2+ years of clinical management/supervisory experience, preferably in an ambulatory care setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit, walk, reach, bend, or twist for long periods of time in an office setting.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs. as part of the role.

  • Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.

  • Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
