Position: Staff Nurse
Hours: 7p - 7a
The essential duties and responsibilities of a Staff Nurse for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit include:
Providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient and family preferences, needs, and values, and engaging parents as full partners in care.
Supporting patient safety initiatives by maintaining an environment of safety for patients, self and others
Assessing the patient's safety needs and patient's condition, including biophysical, psychosocial and age specific needs
Documenting the patient's status according to the unit specific procedure
Developing and prioritizing an individualized plan of care utilizing the nursing and medical diagnosis, collaborating with other health care team members in formulating this plan and implementing this plan of care on the assigned patients
Evaluating the patient's status, nursing instructions, appropriateness of the nursing plan of care and outcomes of the care provided
Initiating a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient as prescribed by the Physician and/or hospital procedure, including patient and family instruction as well as discharge planning
Participating in performance and quality improvement activities
Recognizing, supporting and utilizing evidence based nursing practices
Adhering to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics
Other duties may be assigned.
Candidate is required to have a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, have a Certification from the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina (RN NC LIC). It is preferred that the candidate have a Bachelor's degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing.
