GLFHC is seeking a Registered Nurse, Clinical Educator to join our team!
Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing & Clinical Support Services, the Clinical Educator, Licensed Nurses and Medical Assistants practices within the guidelines of the MA Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and demonstrates Greater Lawrence Family Health Center's core values that reflect its Mission. The nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care and accountability are central to the delivery of individualized, patient centered care.
The Clinical Educator, Licensed Nurses and Medical Assistants is to provide education services by assisting licensed nurses and medical assistants in preparing for contemporary practice and supporting them in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed. The role of licensed nurses in contemporary practice includes competently collecting patient health data, analyzing the data, identifying expected outcomes, developing a plan of care, implementing the plan of care and evaluating the patient's progress toward attainment of those outcomes in a Patient Centered Medical Home model.
Scope of Duties include (but are not limited to):
Performs regular educational needs assessment and develops appropriate training programs for Medical Assistants and Licensed Nurses based upon assessment findings, and in correlation with current evidence based best practice.
Acts as a mentor for Medical Assistants and Licensed Nurses, and aides in the retention of new staff.
Works with the Associate Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care Services, Site Nurse Managers, and Site Operations Managers, and Human Resources, during the orientation process in order to coordinate orientation activities for new licensed nurses and medical assistants, and also to ensure they are appropriately oriented to GLFHC clinical practice guidelines.
Develops and conducts orientation and training programs for newly hired Medical Assistants and Licensed Nurses.
Works closely with the Associate Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care Services to make recommendations to Site Nurse Managers as to the appropriateness of increasing task assignments of new hire licensed nurses and medical assistants.
Assists the Associate Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care Services, Site Nurse Managers, and the Infection Control Nurse to coordinate and schedule trainings for Medical Assistants and Licensed Nurses.
Develops training programs for Medical Assistants and Licensed Nurses, based upon educational needs. Trainings may include basic skills, patient services, new equipment and product training, as well as required training and certificate programs.
Schedules, coordinates, and teaches monthly Basic Life Support certification/recertification classes for GLFHC clinical staff.
Meets with Site Nurse Managers, the Infection Control Nurse, and the Associate Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care Services to assess and identify training opportunities for nursing and medical assistant staff.
Seeks and procures training and certification programs from outside providers. Identifies opportunities for nursing staff to attend continuing education courses, and to complete CEU credits.
One year of experience working in an ambulatory care setting strongly preferred.
Previous experience in the development and delivery of nursing training desirable.
Must have excellent presentation and communication skills; proven problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team member.
Must be able to multi-task and work with interdisciplinary team of professionals.
Proficient with EMR.
Valid Massachusetts Driver's License with good driving record, and access to reliable transportation.
A valid Massachusetts nursing license is required.
Graduate of an accredited nursing institute.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
Maintains current BLS Instructor certification.
