Job Description

This posting is for a full-time, 10-month, 40 hours per week, exempt position. This position is responsible to provide quality mental health services to a college student population through individual, couple, and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation, including ethical/legal documentation, treatment planning, and diagnostic assessments as appropriate. This position will also be responsible for assisting with outreach education and prevention efforts to the UF community.

Essential Functions

This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance in the office environment.

1.Provides individual, couples, and group counseling/therapy to students at the University.

2.Conducts crisis assessment and intervention for urgent/walk-in appointments.

3.Provides professional consultation to all members of the University community.

4.Provides outreach, workshops, and training on various mental health and wellbeing topics as needed. Works collaboratively with Director and Assistant director on identifying outreach needs and effectively implementing programs.

5.Provides after-hours on-call crisis response as needed.

6.Provides coordination for at least one area of counseling services activity (e.g., groups, underrepresented populations, outreach/prevention, training, etc.)

7.Works collaboratively with other university departments to ensure delivery of integrated professional services.

8.Maintain timely, accurate, and ethical documentation consistent with governing laws and ethics.

9.Provide clinical consultation to graduate student trainees as needed.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time 10-month position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position will necessitate occasional evening, weekend, and limited summer hours.

Travel

No travel expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

1.Minimum of a Master's degree in a mental health profession (i.e., counseling, clinical/counseling psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy) from accredited graduate program.

2.Minimum two years of post-graduate experience as a mental health professional, preferably in a college/university setting.

3.Licensed or license-eligible to independently practice as mental health professional in the state of Ohio.

Preferred Education and Experience

1.Experience with mental health services in a college or university counseling center and a passion for working with college students.

2.Knowledge of and experience providing a broad range of psychotherapy and counseling methods within a time-limited scope of service.

3.Clinical training/ skills in evidenced-based short-term modalities.

4.Excellent crisis intervention skills.

5.Excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to be relevant and creative with outreach efforts.

6.Candidates must possess a collaborative spirit, be enthusiastic about service-delivery to college student population, and be team oriented. The University Counseling Services is an integral part of a strong and cooperative division of Student Affairs.
