The Clinical Manager leads clinical operations and daily management of surgical procedures within the main operating room in collaboration with the clinical Director. This individual leads a dedicated team of highly trained operating room clinicians and maintains integral relationships with medical staff leadership. A successful team member in this position is a team player, flexible and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Highlighted Responsibilities

  • Management of patients from newborn to 18 years old intraoperatively

  • Management of airways including endotracheal tubes, nasal airways, oral airways and bag valve mask

  • Assessing and maintaining sterile technique, positioning, specimen collection

  • Multidisciplinary communication to ensure safe, developmentally appropriate care

  • Provide communication and education to families to ensure involvement and understanding in their child's care

  • Service lines include: Dental, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Oral surgery, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Plastics/Craniofacial, Transplant and Urology

  • Partner with surgeons and anesthesia to support measurement-based care and coordination of care within Perioperative Services

  • Guide data driven care through the oversite of data utilization and clinical application of outcome measures

  • Manage staffing, quality, research, productivity, and budget for respective areas.

  • Evaluate and enhance efficiency in processes

Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years' relevant experience, Operating room experience

Education: BSN

License: TX RN License

Certifications: BLS, PALS, CNOR preferred

This position mentors and teaches peers and new Surgical Technologists and RNs rotating through specialty. Acts as a resource for staff. Resolves minor equipment/supply, and surgical environment issues. Liaison with Central Sterile Processing regarding upcoming needs for instruments and supplies. Acts in the Surgical Technologist role for assigned surgical procedures. Assists the registered nurse with delegated circulating duties. This position can provide the above described services for both basic and complex surgeries. Must have Surgical Technologist Certification.</p><p>Shift</p><ul><li>Monday - Friday 6:45a-1515p + call, flexible</li></ul><p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Supervisor of a team; spends at least 50% of the time providing people leadership to a team</p></li><li><p>Communicates with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner on the phone and in person and the demonstrates use of good written and verbal communication skills.</p></li><li><p>Plans and executes day to day operational needs</p></li><li><p>Maintains staff compliance with state requirements, AORN standards as well as regulatory requirements in the OR.</p></li><li><p>Provides guidance, coaching, and feedback</p></li><li><p>Provides education and quality control for surgical technologists in the OR regarding equipment, sterile technique and managing supplies for all service lines.</p></li><li><p>Works within established precedents and practices; receives guidance and oversight from a higher-level manager</p></li><li><p>Provide proficient skills for surgical services by demonstrating proficiency in the delivery of skills in all basic services. This includes, but is not limited to: General, Otolaryngology, Plastic, Urology, Orthopedic, Dental, GI and Ophthalmic Surgery.</p></li></ul><p>Work Experience</p><ul><li><p>At least 4 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist</p></li><li><p>Leadership experience desired</p></li></ul><p>Education</p><ul><li><p>Two-year Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required</p></li><li><p>Four-year Bachelor's Degree of equivalent experience preferred</p></li></ul><p>License and Certifications</p><ul><li><p>Current Surgical Technologist Certification issued by an approved organization. (Certification is not required if the employee has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Armed Forces or was employed as a surgical technologist prior to September 9, 2009. Required</p></li><li><p>Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS certification.
