Description
Clinical Lecturer
The NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position as a Clinical Lecturer with expertise in preventative health, fitness programming, and wellness to begin in August 2024. The faculty member will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, a record of service, continuous professional development and work collaboratively with colleagues across the School and University. Responsibilities include serving as a faculty mentor to health and wellness majors, serving on committees at the university and school levels, maintaining office hours and providing contributions to increase the visibility, impact, and reputation of Iona University. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in anatomy and physiology and exercise science and others within the health and wellness major.
Responsibilities include:
Provide student-centered learning environment with teaching responsibilities including in person academic instruction with virtual supplementary course delivery as needed
Understanding of curriculum development and ability to develop and revise curriculum as needed
Development of creative, challenging, evidence-based class/lab/service learning, and online environments that promote student learning for their future practice as allied health professionals.
Participation in quality improvement initiatives to meet program, school, and institutional goals.
Collection and application of learning assessment information to improve teaching and curriculum.
Participation in recruitment, retention, and admissions activities programs and student mentorship for career and professional development.
Actively engage in service (committees; work groups; task forces etc.) to the program, the NYP Iona School of Health Sciences and the University at large
Supports and participates in the University's system of shared governance.
Demonstrates professionalism and ethical behavior.
Demonstrate appreciation and respect for Iona University, its Mission, and the heritage of the Christian Brothers, as well as the ability to establish and nurture strong collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Qualifications
Required Credentials:
PhD in a science/health science field (exercise science/kinesiology, nutrition, health sciences)
Current certification/credential for allied area of expertise
Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate level
Required Skills/Experience:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a multicultural/multiethnic suburban campus environment with a substantial population of first-generation students.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Flexible, proactive, visionary comfortable with the process of innovation
Highly collaborative work style
Student-centered and strengths-based orientation to education
Strong computer/technology skills
