Full-time Clinical Lead Registered Nurse (RN)- Gastroenterology Practice -Danbury, CT (60 Miles of New York City)

Nuvance Health, formerly known as Western Connecticut Health, has as excellent opportunity for a full-time, experienced Registered Nurse (RN) in Danbury, Connecticut. The Clinical Lead RN will provide support to the gastroenterology department following a Monday-Friday office schedule of 8am-5pm. Danbury is located one hour outside of New York City in suburban Fairfield County.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned registered nurse with a strong background in leadership and hold an RN Connecticut license. The position includes collaboration with the Gastroenterology team side by side to ensure appropriate patient follow up and will oversee the clinical staff which includes LPN's and medical assistants. This role will also work closely with the practice coordinator, AVP, and clerical staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Triages all phone calls for 6 providers, and 1 mid-level providers.

  • Manages all clinical staff and collaborate with the Practice Coordinator with working with the clerical staff to form one cohesive team.

  • Patient rooming, document chief complaint, vital signs, history, capture charges for provision of ancillary services, assists with the completion of patient summaries, medication/allergy, history forms, and obtain appropriate treatment consents.

  • Administer and document injections, dispense and document medications as directed by physician/provider. Label and handle in office specimens, prepare laboratory and imaging requisitions.

  • Assist with coordination of further patient care and follow-up and carry out tasks as directed by RN and/or physician/provider. This may include communication with patient, hospital, labs, imaging centers, pharmacies, physician offices, insurance plans.

  • Performs audits to ensure quality metrics and compliance.

  • Follows all discharged patients to advise them of test results or relay a physician's instructions and ensure follow up visits are scheduled within one week.

  • Provides patient and family education on how to perform physician recommended care, take prescribed medication, prepare for tests or procedures, and monitor treatment progress.

  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

  • The qualified candidate will have a RN Connecticut License

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

  • Minimum 3 year of job-related experience

  • Previous medical office experience with pulmonary medicine preferred
