Job Summary:

As the Clinical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor at Pangea Laboratory, you will oversee the daily operations of our high-complexity diagnostic lab, ensuring compliance with CLIA/CAP standards and managing workflow and staff scheduling. Your role includes supervising high-complexity testing, training personnel, managing laboratory resources, and troubleshooting complex issues to maintain test accuracy and reliability. You will also participate in quality assurance initiatives, conduct audits, and update procedures in alignment with regulatory guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure the overall functioning of the clinical laboratory, including managing workflow, scheduling staff, and ensuring timely completion of tests and procedures.

  • Ensure that all clinical testing comply with safety and CLIA/CAP guidelines.

  • Must be onsite to provide direct supervision when high complexity testing is performed by any individual.

  • Maintain effective communication with the team on day-to-day activities and on-going projects.

  • Train and provide orientation to all laboratory personnel; review all associated training documents; and perform all evaluations of testing personnel performances.

  • Troubleshoot highly complex problems that can adversely affect test performance.

  • Be familiar with laboratory protocols and procedures for specimen processing, operating equipment and instruments, maintenance of lab rooms and lab equipment, and data analysis.

  • Manage inventory of laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies. Coordinate maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment.

  • Perform laboratory testing and analyze test results accurately and efficiently, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory data.

  • Conduct/coordinate with internal and external audits and report instances of noncompliance to the appropriate compliance personnel. Participate in all Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement efforts as applicable.

  • Plan and perform assay validation/verification; write summary reports.

  • Conduct competency assessments and proficiency testing for all laboratory personnel per CAP/CLIA guidelines.

  • Implement quality control measures to maintain the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results. Review QC/QA metrics at least on a monthly basis.

  • Compose or update SOPs according to CAP guidelines.

  • Keep up to date with the latest advancements and techniques in laboratory science through continuous education and professional development.

Requirements:

  • Must have an active California State license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist)

  • A Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in related field

  • Must have at least 2 years of experience with molecular testing

  • Next generation sequencing experience highly desired

  • 3 or more years of experience in Clinical Laboratory Science or related fields

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory information systems (LIS)

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000 per year at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
