Position: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) - CGMBS

We are seeking a Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) to perform molecular genetic testing at our laboratory in Monrovia, California. Reporting to the General Supervisor

• Molecular Genetics, the CGMBS will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory procedures, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, sequencing, and data analysis. The ideal candidate will have experience in clinical laboratory operations, molecular genetics techniques, and NGS (next-generation sequencing) technologies.

Required Qualifications:

Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) Regulation

• The Clinical Lab Scientist must meet the CLIA requirements set forth in 42CFR Sec. 493.1489 for a High Complexity Testing Lab.

Required Licensure:

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist must be licensed by the State of California as a generalist or have limited licensures in specialties of tests performed.

Responsibilities

• Following the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.

• Maintaining records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.

• Adhering to the laboratory's Quality Control policies and documenting all Quality Control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance.

• Following the laboratory's policies, including taking and documenting corrective actions, whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.

• Being able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or test result reporting and correcting the problem or notifying the appropriate supervisor.

• Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

• If required by route of qualification, performing high complexity testing only under the on-site direct supervision of a General Supervisor.

• Perform laboratory procedures for genetic testing, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, sequencing, and data analysis

• Perform quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable results

• Participate in the development and validation of new genetic tests and methodologies

• Participate in laboratory meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities to maintain up-to-date knowledge of genetic testing technologies and practices

• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for…..

• Strong understanding of molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, sequencing, and data analysis

• Familiarity with NGS (next-generation sequencing) technologies and data analysis tools

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for laboratory operations (e.g. CLIA)

• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
