The CLS will correlate and integrate other patient data when interpreting test results and report results, which are substantiated by the proper use of appropriate quality control systems. The CLS will also use professional judgment and have an in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, quality control and instrument maintenance. In this position you must recognize problems, identify causes, and determine alternative methods and solutions as well as actively contribute to quality assurance activities and participate in proficiency testing.

Your Role:

The CLS will correlate and integrate other patient data when interpreting test results and report results, which are substantiated by the proper use of appropriate quality control systems. The CLS will also use professional judgment and have an in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, quality control and instrument maintenance. In this position you must recognize problems, identify causes, and determine alternative methods and solutions as well as actively contribute to quality assurance activities and participate in proficiency testing.

  • Will operate and maintain highly complex instrumentations such as Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and Ion Chromatography (IC), as well as demonstrate proficiency on routine environmental and clinical testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting in accordance with protocols established by Ascend Clinical, LLC

  • Perform a variety of standardized microbiological tests such as heterotrophic plate counts, and endotoxin detection assay.

  • Processes specimens, performs test preparation, specimen verification and tracking, all related clerical functions and general clean-up tasks for routine as well as high complex tests

  • Reports, analyzes, and verifies environmental and clinical results, which are substantiated by the proper use of quality control systems.

  • Performs other quality control procedures to assure the operational accuracy of equipment and test reproducibility

  • Perform first line maintenance

  • Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities

  • Set up equipment, samples, and materials needed for analysis

  • Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process

  • The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will perform only those tests for which the scientist is qualified by education, training, and/or experience

  • Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of accepted clinical laboratory practice and procedures including handling of potentially infectious material and familiarity with California law relating to the practice of medical technology

  • Knowledge of computer skills, quality control and instrument maintenance Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Analytical problem-solving skills, proficiency in performing detailed tasks thoroughly and completely, and the ability to follow complicated instructions with accuracy

  • Good organizational skills

  • The ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate satisfactorily in English, in person and on the telephone

  • Strong knowledge of multiple specialties

  • Strong knowledge of quality control and calibration

  • Strong knowledge of lab equipment and procedures

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University and one to two years related experience

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Clinical Lab Scientist license from the State of California

As a Clinical Laboratory Associate II we are looking for someone who will be responsible for assisting the Clinical Laboratory Scientists and supporting the daily operations of the Clinical Laboratory. As part of the Clinical Operations you will be responsible for: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Perform equipment maintenance according to the laboratory's standard operating procedures for the following but not limited to: centrifuges, freezers, refrigerators, pipettors, heat blocks, quantitation instruments, sequencers, and liquid handlers. * Create sample batches, print labels and label tubes and plates. * Maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies and equipment in the laboratory for performance of duties. * Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. * Clean racks and other laboratory supplies. * Manage plasma sample inventory. * Perform annual review of standard operating procedures. * Assist the Reagent Manufacturing team with preparation and aliquoting of reagents, manufacture controls and reagents kits require for performing and supporting sampletesting. * Assist with managing and ensuring sufficient inventory of reagents used in the Clinical Operations laboratory. * Participate in interdepartmental activities with Supply Chain and Quality to ensure qualified reagents for testing are available for use at all time. * Assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist during clinical patient testing. * Participate in projects under the supervision of a CLS or Supervisor along with maintaining quality and efficient work flow of daily duties. * Perform laboratory tests, procedures and analyses according to the laboratory's standard operating procedures for research sample testing * Operate and troubleshoot equipment according to the laboratory's standard operating procedures for research sample testing * Independently identify and troubleshoot high complexity problems that adversely affect the test performance for research sample testing * Assist with training of new laboratory personnel and training of new procedures with existing personnel. * Assist with internal audits and inspection preparation, as needed. * Manage of organizing and maintaining laboratory, equipment, personnel and training documents. * Set-up the liquid handlers and assist with liquid handlers automated procedures. * Ensure on-time calibration of laboratory equipment is scheduled and performed. * Report all concerns of test quality and/or safety to the Supervisor or Safety Officer. * Work closely with the CLS's and Accessioning Teams and Reagent Manufacturing team to provide consistent and ongoing support to the entire service department. * Write and revise standard operating procedures, as needed. * Identify process improvement opportunities and report to laboratory management * Provide guidance for new Clinical Laboratory Associates, give constructive feedback and provide peer review feedback for evaluations. * Perform other duties as assigned.
