Performs essential job duties of the Quality Control Laboratory while providing guidance and expertise for the laboratory to meet the needs of customers, in accordance with accepted standards and regulations.

General Duties:

Adhere to CLIA requirements, current food manufacturing practices (cGMP) guidelines, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Must demonstrate and uphold Standards of Excellence.
Maintain department records, reports and statistical data as required.
Draft new and revise existing documents: procedures, forms, etc.
Participate in proficiency testing as assigned.
May assist in the review of test results, reports and/or quality control records.
Participate in process validations and qualifications of equipment.
Enhance professional growth and development of self and staff.
Attend internal and external meetings as required, and participate on committees as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Duties:

Perform platelet production as needed
Performs donor and product QC evaluations
Perform product labeling and quarantine/dispositions of products
Investigate and review non-conformances through quality incident reporting
Perform supervisory reviews and tasks as needed
Perform controlled document writing and revisions
Receive / Review, Upload and Commit IDM test results
Provide support for the donor notification/look-back process
Equipment Used:

General laboratory equipment including but not limited to: hematology cell counters, residual cell counters, bacterial detection analyzers, pH meter, centrifuges, heat sealers, sterile docking devices, refrigerators,/freezers, sterility incubators, tubing strippers, weights, scales, balances, expressors if applicable in the lab department.
BECS (Blood Establishment Computer Systems)
Personal computer.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Understanding of technical aspects of lab department, blood banking concepts, hematology, microbiology, serology and flowcytometry.
Must be detail-oriented, well organized, self-motivated and capable of independent work.

Experience: Laboratory experience preferred but not required.

Certifications/Licenses:

MT (ASCP)cm or equivalent experience
CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CLS) or
CA Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License (CIS)

VIEW JOBS 11/3/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-01T00:00 All About You: Position Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Scientist 1 is responsible for testing and reporting clinical laboratory results, providing direct and constant supervision for the Clinical Laboratory Technicians (CLTs), and assisting with development of quality processes in accordance to state and federal clinical laboratory regulations. * Must have the ability to work evening shift (2pm - 10:30pm) and some weekends.* Responsibilities: * Perform high complexity test(s) that are authorized by the laboratory director * Responsible for specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results * Reports laboratory testing on clinical laboratory samples used to aide physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients * Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient results * Perform testing of proficiency samples, ensuring proficiency samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens * Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens * Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed * Selects, implements and evaluates results for Quality Control materials used in laboratory assays * Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance * Troubleshoot assays and equipment that fail to meet specifications * Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant or director * Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications * Participate in activities required to support all necessary licensing for the clinical laboratory, including quality management functions and on-site inspections * Train other CLSs and CLTs in laboratory methods * Assist in assay development activities . Requirements: * 0 - 3 years experience in a clinical laboratory setting; preferably with experience in a high complexity molecular testing environment.
