Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Description:

CLS with experience as Development Scientist from Biotech. Must have experience with assay development. Experience in a start up environment is a plus. Must have CLS Generalist, no GCMBS. CLS will work on current (protein aggregation and amplifications) and future assays (R&D working on optimizing and updating) assays. Also in the lab conducting testing and reporting.

• CLS needed for growing biotech startup. Will be asked to be flexible and wear many hats.

• Great place to grow and operate outside of a more regimented hospital or reference lab environment.

• Day to day varies but includes- reviewing SOPs, pipetting, lab skills, accessioning, take inventory-

• This is start up atmosphere, so must want to be on bench, mixed workload, some days at computer, then weeks in lab.

• Client has one assay currently, with more in pipeline, it is protein aggregation assay- chemistry, but heavy pipetting like a molecular.

• Seeing an increase in patient samples, 7 day assay, 10 a day coming in, will be doing SOPs and equipment maintenance, setting up assay once every 2 weeks to batch specimens, but that will increase in the next 3-5 months.

• In downtimes will be expected to make reagents- everything is homebrew- no kits.

• Once a month inventory is run, there are currently multiple projects as they gear up and have new tests come in- lots of process improvement projects with quality manager in lab, investigator and pharma projects which come in bulk. It does wax and wane. Can be all hands and then on to the next.
