Overview

The primary responsibilities are overseeing and supervising daily work activities within the laboratory unit to ensure efficient and effective scientific and administrative operations. Operates, maintains, and repairs clinical laboratory equipment within scope of training including routine preventive maintenance, calibration, and safety checks. Oversees and reviews area weekly and monthly Quality Control and maintain QC database. Set up and validate new assays as assigned by the manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct work responsibilities for team as well as prioritize tasks and resources. Direct staff to meet department key process improvements (KPIs) such as quality initiatives and therapeutic area training (TAT).

  • Oversees daily operations in the laboratory with respect to troubleshooting instrumentation, out of specification/atypical results investigations, analytical methods and reports, review and approval of protocols, data interpretation and evaluation, etc.

  • Directs and manages the implementation of departmental goals and fiscal policies. Assists management in strategic planning, capabilities development, projections, and other financial issues.

  • Initiate and implement plans, develop and improve areas of the laboratory for greater efficiency, productivity, and quality. Maintains and monitors accreditation and inspection standards, keeping the laboratory in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Coordinate inventory monitoring, sample, tests to perform and manages all ordering and requisitioning of supplies, synchronizing this activity with other functions.

  • Work cross-functionally to coordinate sample logistics with the clinical team and laboratory vendor(s).

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years managing clinical lab and at least 1 year of leadership responsibility.

  • Previous experience with human samples preferred.

  • Knowledge of SOPs, protocols and other technical documents

  • Knowledge of analytical instrumentation

  • Excellent critical thinking skills to support quality decision-making

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Domestic and/or international travel required 10%

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years managing clinical lab and at least 1 year of leadership responsibility

  • Previous experience with human samples preferred

  • Knowledge of SOPs, protocols and other technical documents

  • Knowledge of analytical instrumentation

Travel Requirements

Up to 10% travel, domestic and international

Salary Range

Insmed takes into consideration a combination of candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees. The base salary range for this job is from $119,000.00 to $167,267.00 per year
