Employee duties span multiple areas, including second opinion and clinical care requests, send-out testing, legal case requests, clinical trial requests for the MGH Cancer Center Protocol Office, clinical trial and research requests for the Pathology Specimen Locator in conjunction with the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, internal pathology department-related research requests, IRB/CITI training and, of course, tissue preservation through automated and manual archiving of blocks and slides.
Follows all safety (including infection control and hazardous material) policies and procedures. Notifies supervisor of unsafe conditions.
Provide compassionate and professional care to all patients using reasonable and prudent judgment
Interact with co-workers, management and vendors in a professional manner.
Attend all annually required safety and infection control education and competency activities
Achieve productivity expectations where applicable
Respect department and MGH property. Maintain neat and orderly work area.
Secure all areas and equipment such as coolers, supplies and PHI (Protected Health Information) when not in use

Adhere to all HIPAA and other privacy requirements and regulations.
Follow all established and approved policies and procedures for assigned work area.
Communicate and inform unit management of any and all deviations from acceptable practice, policy and procedure and exercise reasonable and prudent judgment at all times.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Previous science, medical terminology education, healthcare and/or customer service experience preferred.
Experience with computers, including Microsoft Windows software.
