Summary :
This is a phlebotomy position with additional lab duties
Variable 4 or 8 hours shifts between 5am
Weekends and Holidays are currently 5a-9a, rotating between Team Members
Will train on the job for the right candidate for our great team!
Additional hours may be available for pick up at our other campus locations
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant performs pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes, and may perform specimen collection.
Job Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Obtains specimens from inpatients and outpatients following proper identification protocols and appropriate techniques to maintain the integrity of the specimens, and prioritizes collections to meet established turnaround times. 2. Supports patient testing by performing waived testing, loading analyzers, and performing lab functions, as needed, to meet patient demands. 3. Adheres to OSHA and ThedaCare department policies for specimen collection and handling to ensure a safe work environment. 4. Provides training for new lab and non-lab team members to retain top talent. 5. Performs specimen-related computer functions with accuracy and speed including entering physician's orders, processing cancelations, and entering add-on tests to ensure regulatory compliance. 6. Enters, activates, and/or reviews physician orders in the system with accuracy for patient safety and quality. 7. Maintains supplies and assists with inventory and ordering to ensure the availability of supplies to perform patient care responsibilities. 8. Performs special specimen collections (i.e., legal specimen collections) to support patient testing and follow up as required by law. QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma or GED preferred • Must be 18 years of age •, Completion of BLS Certification will be required for candidates working at ThedaCare Medical Center
