Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital. It is the premiere health care organization for key areas such as Surgery, Cardiology, Women's Health, Pediatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, Renal and Mental Health Services.
1.Maintains a program of quality control and participates in a program of quality assurance.
2.Advises staff on appropriate methods and techniques.
3.Oversees the ordering and maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment as well as the preparation, packaging, labeling, and standardization of laboratory media and reagents; and records results and pertinent data of prepared products or oversees this function.
4.Prepares labels, packages, and standardizes laboratory media, reagents, controls and specimens for use in analyses.
5.Prepares work orders for laboratory repairs.
6.Assists in developing and revising laboratory policies and procedures.
7.Conducts tests and/or other complex analyses.
8.Designs and maintains charts, logs, and other records.
9.Testifies in court or other proceedings as an expert witness.
May prepare correspondence and narrative/statistical reports.
May participate in or supervise the preparation, administration, and rating of laboratory proficiency test programs.
1.Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist issued by the NYSED; and
2.One year of full-time paid experience as a technologist performing pertinent tests and analyses in a clinical laboratory as defined in Title V, Section 57 1 of the New York State Public Health Law.
