Pay: $22.95 - $24.21 per hour, depending on years of experience.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Lab Assistant/Registrar is responsible for accessioning all patient specimens, internal and external communication and transport duties relative to the flow of specimens. The Registrar also processes and packages specimens for the reference Laboratory and is responsible for the printing of all types of patient and Laboratory reports.

Responsibilities:

• Use the LIS to retrieve information on patient results for physicians and nurses as requested

• Answer telephones and provide courteous customer service

• Advise clinical personnel in the ordering of routine and STAT test procedures

• Verify patient information matches specimens and is properly labelled

• Distribute all specimens to the appropriate lab promptly

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalency required

• 1 year clerical experience required, preferably in a Laboratory setting

• Data entry experience required

• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

• Knowledge of computerized Laboratory Information System (LIS) preferred

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
