Responsible for enhancing, supporting and maintaining an application(s) within the St. Luke's Health System with an emphasis on patient care impact, clinical outcomes and quality improvement; in collaboration with other clinical and IT employees. Optimize the application by serving as a liaison between the end user and IT. Will work with cross functional teams and St. Luke's clients by providing information on system functionality and configuration of new tools to increase end user productivity within the application(s). In conjunction with the IT training team, will assist with communicating all necessary application changes, enhancements and procedures to all necessary internal and external department teams.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the integration of information systems into the clinical areas to support quality patient care.

  • Participates in the analysis of clinical environments and evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies.

  • Provides support for end users of clinical applications.

  • Assists in workflow analysis related to use of information systems for maximum efficiency.

  • Serves as a resource to staff and providers for resolving educational and workflow issues.

  • Collaborates with staff and providers in clinical areas to obtain ideas for system enhancements. Collaborates with medical informatics and business relationship managers to implement solutions and innovations.

  • Participates in clinical information technology implementation and upgrades through design input and validation, testing, and facilitation of at-the-elbow support when available.

  • Develops and maintains clinical information technology and analytics expertise.

  • Provides assistance and expertise in leveraging adoption of new predictive analytic models into clinician workflow.

  • Maintain current knowledge of information technology by attending appropriate continuing education training/seminars and reading related periodicals.

  • Utilizes knowledge of clinical practice to determine clinical information technology functional requirements.

  • Solid understanding of operational / clinical services and information / work flow of assigned areas ability to analyze, diagnoses, support and implement process/operational change

  • Will interact and collaborate with all levels of healthcare personnel; IT Management, Clinicians, Consultants and Administrators.

  • Participates in Hospital/Network Committees as assigned.

  • Helps analyze data on performance metrics for quality and performance initiatives.

  • Act as preceptors to Informatics students as part of professional development and contribution to our discipline.

  • Function as part of a team.

  • Strong Customer Service Orientation and ability to follow through on issue resolution.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.

  • Comply with Network and Departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

  • Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).

  • Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical care/Outcomes, customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.

  • Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.

  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.

  • Performs additional duties dependent on department requirements.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS: Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; standing for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; walking for up to 2 hours a day, 1 hour at a time. Requires crouching, kneeling, and lifting of objects weighing up to 60 pounds, pushing objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Requires hand and finger dexterity to perform repairs of small equipment and to use computer equipment. Seeing as it relates to general, near, color, and peripheral vision. Hearing as it relates to normal and telephone conversations.

EDUCATION:

  • Nursing License Required

  • Baccalaureate Degree Required, in Nursing preferred,

  • Master's Degree desirable

Additional Requirements:

  • Current registered nurse license in Pennsylvania.

  • Maintenance of clinical competence as registered nurse.

  • Represents the Information Technology Department in a positive manner.

  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication required with other staff, physicians, administration, hospital personnel, visitors, and external professional agencies. Maintain a positive relationship with staff and physicians essential.

Certification:

Obtain and maintain an Epic certification AND/OR obtain one Epic certification within 1 years of hire.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 + years nursing clinical experience required

  • Information technology, healthcare informatics or equivalent work preferred.

  • Demonstrated competence as a professional nurse in recent practice.

  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness as a clinician.

  • Utilization of clinical information systems required.

  • PC and Printer knowledge and experience is preferred.

  • Understanding of clinical analytics, including quality measurement and indicators.

Application Experience:

  • Epic/EMR experience is preferred.

  • MS Office is required

  • Proficient in Excel

  • Proficient in Power Point

Hospital Operations Knowledge/Experience:

  • General, Radiology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physician Services, Laboratory, Ambulatory Care, Patient Care Services, and other specialty healthcare areas

Work Schedule:

  • Minimum of 40 hours per week, normally week days and additional hours as required including weekend and evening assignments as required by the department.
